Composition and structure of meteorites by George P Merrill( Book )

15 editions published between 1930 and 1962 in English and held by 202 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The paper presented here was written to form a part of a series to be issued by the Smithsonian Institution, but on completion was judged too technical. Rather than attempt a popularization, Merrill withdrew it, substituting in its place a few pages of more easily comprehended generalities. However, since considering the matter, and in view of the fact that there is nothing in English covering the same ground, it has been thought advisable to further elaborate and publish as here presented. Students of meteorites in America are at this moment not too abundant, and anything that will excite interest, or be of help, is surely worthy of publication. Many of the views expressed are the author's own, and perhaps not generally accepted, is recognized. However, making this point sufficiently clear avoids misunderstandings
