The reliability and reproducibility of maximal oxygen consumption in young females, aged 10-13 by Anne Clifford Herbert Pembroke( )

5 editions published between 1983 and 1984 in English and held by 107 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Forty-one female Ss, aged 10-13, volunteered to undergo underwater weighing and to perform a maximal treadmill exercise test (T). Forty Ss also completed a maximal bicycle ergometer test (T 9. Comparison of physical characteristics (ht, wt, % fat, LBW) behreen age groups, as well as peak cardiorespiratory responses to the treadmill exercise (Lemin, ml-kg -min, ml.kgLB\V -cmin, HR, V, time, RER) was done. A one-way ANOVA was used to determine the sig between age groups and a post-hoc test showed where the sig occurred. Sig diff (P6.05) in ht was found between 10 and 12 yr old Ss and 10 and 13 yr Sld Ss; in wt between 10 and 13 yr old Ss and 11 and 13 yr old Ss; in-4BW between 10 and 13 yr old Ss and 11 and 13 yr old Ss. Peak L'min differed (P~05) between 10 and 13 yr old Ss and 11 and 13 yr old Ss. Peak VE Gas found to differ sig (Pd.05) between 10 and 13 yr old Ss. No other variable differed (Ex 057 between ages. Eighteen of these Ss volunteered to perform a retest (T2), 9 on the treadmill, 9 on the bicycle ergometer. A Pearson Product Moment r was employed to covare each varaible for T1 and T2. Siglr (P<.051 were seeglin Ll~in for treadmill exercise and in L-min, miekg- omin, ml'kgLBIV smin and VE for bicycle ergometry. Dependent "t'l tests - showed no sig diff (b.05) in mean values between TI and T" in mlakg lamin-' and HR for peak treahill exercise. For bicycle exerciseY2no sig diff (Px05) was observed in V and performance time. It was concluded that dyfficulty in the attainmgnt of maximal exercise in children due to a lack of motivation to reach that level of effort makes the reliability and reproducibility of peak cardiorespiratory response questionable
The diaries of Lady Anne Clifford by Anne Clifford Herbert Pembroke( Book )

4 editions published between 1990 and 1992 in English and held by 83 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This book vividly documents both the great and the trivial events in the long life of Lady Anne Clifford. They cover her life from her childhood days, when she witnessed the funeral of Queen Elizabeth I, to her last months, when she recalled her past from her room in Brougham Castle. Through compiling and transcribing the manuscript records, D J H Clifford here presents in one volume the full range of Lady Anne's life: her active role at court as the Countess of Dorset (residing at Knole in Kent), her turbulent second marriage to the 4th Earl of Pembroke at Wilton, Wiltshire, and her fina

The memoir of 1603 and the diary of 1616-1619 by Anne Clifford Herbert Pembroke( )

1 edition published in 2008 in English and held by 0 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"Anne Clifford's memoir for the year 1603 and her diary of 1616-1619 are invaluable records of the daily life and social and family relationships of a noblewoman of her time. In them she records her travels, her reading, her religious observances, her relationships with her mother, her husband, and her child, and the progress - or lack thereof - of her legal efforts to obtain what she viewed as her inheritance, extensive estates in the north of England. The two texts offer a unique view of the life, feelings, experience, and self-fashioning of this extraordinary woman, and they bring to life the history and literary culture of the period in a refreshing and direct way." "This Broadview edition includes an illuminating introduction that places these texts in their historical and literary context. The appendices include poems dedicated and addressed to Clifford, her funeral sermon, and the "Great Picture" of the Clifford family."--Jacket
