NIn the absence of Don Porfirio Francisco León de la Barra and the Mexican RevolutionHistory"The product of extensive archival research, this volume concludes that de la Barra, the forgotten man, had a major hand in bringing "progressive reforms" to Mexico that have been overshadowed because of the simultaneous popular uprising that demanded much greater changes in land tenure and working conditions. In the Absence of Don Porfirio: Francisco Leon de la Barra and the Mexican Revolution reveals that the de la Barra government laid the foundation for many of the ideas that would become the critical issues of the post-1920s Mexican state." "The book analyzes de la Barra's role as a member of the progressive group of Porfirians who saw a chance for Mexico to live up to the reputation as a modern nation that Diaz had promoted. De la Barra directed the election process and responded to the widespread interest - even in rural areas and among popular classes - in democracy."--Jacket+-+79227579352735ocn001042436book19200.70O'Shaughnessy, EdithIntimate pages of Mexican history364ocn005461157book19120.95Ponce de León, GregorioEl interinato presidencial de 1911292ocn063266487book20050.93Avila Espinosa, Felipe ArturoEntre el porfiriato y la revolución : el gobierno interino de Francisco León de la BarraHistory+-+053277852432ocn017684567book19111.00Castilla Echánove, ManuelApuntes para la biografía del señor doctor don Francisco León de la Barra y Quijano, Presidente interino de la República22ocn663369007book19651.00Garritz, AmayaLa presidencia interina de Francisco León de la Barra, política interna11ocn051124138visu19101.00[Francisco de la Barra, head-and-shoulders portrait, facing front]11ocn779587834visu1935Aillet, Edgard-Adrien-JeanF.L. de la Barra, President of Mexico. It contains approximately 10,000 items spanning the life of Francisco Vázquez Goméz (1860-1933), a key political figure in the Mexican Revolution. About half of the collection pertains to the revolutionary events of 1911. Much of the collection consists of newspaper headlines (both English and Spanish) that follow the political maneuvers of the Anti-Reelectionist party, the group which eventually toppled the Mexican dictator Porfirio Diaz from power. Correspondence between the key players within the revolution and counter-revolution compromise the rest of the collection, which is arranged chronologically. The collection includes many prominent figures in the revolution, such as Francisco I. Madero, Toribio Esquivel Obregón, Juan Sánchez Azcona, Francisco de la Barra, General Pascual Orozco, and Victoriano Huerta. There are documents detailing the Diaz cabinet activities before and during the revolution, which illuminate the role of José Limantour, Diaz' influential economic Minister. There are commentaries on Madero's revolutionary call to arms, the Plan San Luis Potosi, written in prison and released to the world while organizing a junta in San Antonio, Texas. There are also research materials on the Mexican revolution from scholars, including some of Ignacio Vázquez Goméz Norma's papers01ocn021691805book1911Un Triunfo del Partido Católico Nacional en su formula Madero-La Barra+-+7922757935Thu Oct 16 15:15:14 EDT 2014batch18992
