Film version of an incident that took place between the anarchist Ōsugi Sakae and three women around 1915-1916. The women were Hori Yasuko, Ōsugi's wife, and feminists Itō Noe, and Kamichika Ichiko. Ōsugi became romantically involved with Itō and Kamichika while still married to his wife. He used a philosophical argument to justify this relationship, but the three women did not accept it. Hori divorced him, Kamichika stabbed him, and Itō married him. In the scandal that followed Ōsugi was disgraced among the leftists

A young terrorist, Heigo Asahi, stabbed Zenjiro Yasuda to death in 1921 and killed himself. Heigo's personal mementos were sent to Ikki Kita, a revolutionary thinker. His book criticized the Japanese emperor system and encouraged revolutionary activity. This book had a profound impact on young people who sorrowed of the situation in Japan. A group of young army officers attempted a coup on February 26, 1936, which is known as " February 26th Incident."

The work of Kiju Yoshida is one of Japanese cinema's obscure pleasures. A contemporary of Nagisa Oshima (Death by Hanging, In the Realm of the Senses) and Masahiro Shinoda (Pale Flower, Assassination), Yoshida started out as an assistant to Keisuke Kinoshita before making his directorial debut at age 27. In the decades that followed he produced more than 20 features and documentaries, yet each and every one has proven difficult to see in the English-speaking world

Near the beginning of his trip, he meets a woman in Lisbon who is buying furniture and handicrafts and they spend the summer wandering through Portugal, Spain, France, Sweden, Denmark, Holland and Italy together. The movie presents their conversations and interior monologues about each other against a background of spectacular scenery, buildings and monuments and with beautiful music in the background
