In the twentieths, Otto Dix was the artist of Neue Sachlichkeit, the New Objectivity, par excellence. Painting in a very realistic, almost photographic style, he chose as subjects the poverty, violence, death, and war that he experienced as a soldier in World War I. After this terrible experience, he painted the famous triptych "The War". Dix staged the world as a play, a grotesque farce. But the form he chose to do so was based on the classical canon of beauty. Dix lived his life and served art, for he adhered to the age-old rule that the American painter Ad Reinhardt put in a nutshell: 'Life is life, and art is art'

Judith Milberg : Arbeiten auf Papier und Leinwand = Works on paper and canvas : 2015-2017 by Judith Milberg( Book )

1 edition published in 2017 in German and held by 25 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The paintings of the artist Judith Milberg from Munich fascinate with their abundance and variety of ornamental and floral motifs. Filigree lines develop into rosettes, flowers, and vegetable-like patterns, swirl and flow over the picture ground, become rounded into spheres, explode as blotches, and interweave with other amorphous structures, none of which resembles the other. They are often quirky everyday found objects that she manically collects and in which she finds inspiration. In the work process, she overlays and abstracts their structures in several layers and merges them with one another to create poetic, surreal works of dynamic elegance. The publication presents the artistic spectrum of Judith Milberg

4 editions published in 2016 in German and English and held by 23 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Few things are as popular today as research into and speculation about which sort of future the boundless accumulation of data on the Internet and cutting-edge technologies?self-learning superintelligence, nano- and neurotechnology, or brain-computer interfaces? will bring us. The artist Julie Valmes (b. Poland, 1977; lives and works in Vienna) has studied the scientific fields of transhumanism, artificial intelligence (AI), biophysics, and energetics for years. In sculptural works made out of diverse materials such as bronze, aluminum, steel, silicones, colorful synthetic resins, and wood, the artist holds a mirror up to the contradictory reality of the transparent contemporary individual: what masquerades as openness, she argues, is in fact totalitarian control. TR@NSMISSION offers a first survey of the objects, installations, sculptures, and frequency paintings Julie Valmes has created over the past eight years. With essays by David Gelernter, Eva Karcher, Armin Risi, and Klaus Volkamer, an interview with Bazon Brock, and a conversation between Eva Karcher and the artist.00Exhibition: Paleis Schwarzenberg, Vienna, Austria (15.11. - 20.11.2016)

BMW art cars( Book )

4 editions published between 2013 and 2014 in 3 languages and held by 22 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Twelve years after the first Benz patent motorcar Number 1 made its first journey in July 1886, a car raced across the image in Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec's lithograph, 'The Automobilist'. 'La 628-E8', a novel named after the license plate number of its author, Octave Mirbeau, was published in the early twentieth century. In his Futurist manifesto, Filippo Tommaso Marinetti rated the beauty of a racecar's revving engine and speed higher than the aesthetics of the Nike of Samothrace. Ever since its invention, artists have been examining the automobile, and the BMW Art Cars have played a central role here. Alexander Calder's BMW 3.0 CSL from 1975 was the first in a series brought to life by Hervé Poulain, lover of auto racing and works of art, in collaboration with BMW's head of motorsports, Jochen Neerpasch. Seventeen artists have since designed BMW models, and the "rolling sculptures" have not only proved themselves in museums, but also on the race track at Le Mans
