La dolce vita( Visual )

8 editions published between 1960 and 2014 in Italian and held by 413 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The biggest hit from the most popular Italian filmmaker of all time, the film rocketed Federico Fellini to international mainstream success, ironically, by offering a damning critique of the culture of stardom. A look at the darkness beneath the seductive lifestyles of Rome's rich and glamorous; the film follows a notorious celebrity journalist during a hectic week spent on the peripheries of the spotlight
Indiscretion of an American wife ; & Terminal station by Vittorio De Sica( Visual )

1 edition published in 2003 in English and held by 292 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

An American housewife (Jennifer Jones) vacationing in Italy reluctantly decides to put an end to her brief affair with an Italian academic (Montgomery Clift). She flees to Rome's Stazione Termini, where she bids him farewell, but he begs her to stay. The film's plot is simple; its production was not. The troubled collaboration between director Vittorio De Sica and producer David O. Selznick resulted in two cuts of the same film. De Sica's version, Terminal Station, was screened at a length of one-and-a-half hours, but after disappointing previews, Selznick severely re-edited it and changed the title to Indiscretion of an American Wife without De Sica's permission

Preludio ; Fantasia tragica ; Notte di tempesta ; Burlesca by Franco Ferrara( )

4 editions published in 2011 and held by 253 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Franco Ferraras musical gifts were prodigious, although his compositions have been overlooked. Born in Palermo he was a fine pianist, an even better violinist, playing under Toscanini, and later a conductor whose public performances were curtailed by illness, but whose private classes were famous. The Fantasia tragica is a symphonic homage to Shostakovich, modelled on the third movement (Eternal Memory) of the Russian composers 11th Symphony. The youthful Burlesca attests to his high spirited and superbly realised string writing and shares something of a filmic heritage with Notte di tempesta, a late-Romantic score of fulsome accomplishment
