Lyrical ballads, 1798 by William Wordsworth( Book )

76 editions published between 1963 and 2008 in English and Undetermined and held by 887 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"The majority of the following poems are to be considered as experiments. They were written chiefly with a view to ascertain how far the language of conversation in the middle and lower classes of society is adapted to the purposes of poetic pleasure - William Wordsworth, from the Advertisment prefacing the original 1798 edition. When it was first published, Lyrical Ballads enraged the critics of the day: Wordsworth and Coleridge had given poetry a voice, one decidedly different to what had been voiced before. For Wordsworth, as he so clearly stated in his celebrated preface to the 1800 edition (also reproduced here), the important thing was the emotion aroused by the poem, and not the poem itself

Lyrical ballads : [by] Wordsworth and Coleridge; the text of the 1798 edition with the additional 1800 poems and the prefaces by William Wordsworth( Book )

22 editions published between 1963 and 1988 in English and Undetermined and held by 369 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The aim of the present volume is to make available to the reader the text of the "Lyrical Ballads" as it appeared in print in 1798 and 1800, as they were first published. We have endeavoured in the text and by means of notes to provide a history of the poems from 1798 to 1805, after which Wordsworth's poems were merged in the 1815 and subsequent editions of his collected works and Coleridge's contributions were transferred to his "Sybilline Leaves" of 1817 and to later collections of his poetry. - from the foreword

A Method for calculating the heat required for windshield thermal ice prevention based on extensive flight tests in natural icing conditions by Alun R Jones( Book )

3 editions published in 1947 in English and held by 6 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

In addition to the internally heated windshield investigation some test data were obtained for a windshield ice-prevention system in which heated air was discharged into the windshield boundary layer. This latter system proved to be thermally inefficient
A Flight investigation of exhaust-heat de-icing by Lewis A Rodert( Book )

3 editions published in 1940 in English and held by 6 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics has conducted exhaust-heat de-icing tests in flight to provide data needed in the application of this method of ice prevention. The capacity to extract heat from the exhaust gas for de-icing purposes, the quantity of heat required, and other factors were examined. The results indicate that a wing-heating system employing a spanwise exhaust tube within the leading edge of the wing removed 30 to 35 percent of the heat from exhaust gas entering the wing. Data are given from which the heat required for ice prevention can be prevented. Sample calculations have been made on a basis of existing engine power to wing area rations to show that sufficient heating can be obtained for ice protection on modern transport airplanes, provided that uniform distribution of the heat can be secured
Development of thermal ice-prevention equipment for the B-17F airplane by Alun R Jones( Book )

3 editions published in 1943 in English and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The basic idea in the design of the system described was to raise the temperature of the surfaces to be protected from ice formations by subjecting the inner faces to a stream of heated air The sources of heated air were three exhaust-gas-to-air heat exchangers; one located in each outboard nacelle. A double-skin type of construction was employed over the forward portion of the wings and tail surfaces. The heated air was caused to circulate by the dynamic pressure of the air stream
An investigation of a thermal ice-prevention system for a twin-engine transport airplane by Alun R Jones( Book )

Flight tests of thermal ice-prevention equipment in the XB-24F airplane by Carr B Neel( Book )

2 editions published in 1943 in English and held by 4 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Performance tests of thermal ice-prevention equipment designed and installed in the XB-24F airplane by the Ames Aeronautical Laboratory of the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics have been conducted in icing and non-icing conditions. The non-icing tests were performed at the AAL, Moffett Field, Calif. The icing tests were undertaken as a part of the NACA Ice Research Project, Minneapolis, Minn., in conjunction with the Material Command of the Army Air Forces and the Northwest Airlines, Inc
Development of thermal ice-prevention equipment for the B-24D airplane by Alun R Jones( Book )

2 editions published in 1943 in English and held by 4 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

A thermal ice-prevention system for the B-24D airplane has been developed at the Ames Aeronautical Laboratory of the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics in cooperation with the Material Center of the Army Air Forces and the Consolidated Aircraft Company. The subject report includes a description of the design and an outline of the method of design analysis. Results of performance tests of the installation are to be presented in a supplementary report
Recommended values of meteorological factors to be considered in the design of aircraft ice-prevention equipment by Alun R Jones( Book )

3 editions published in 1949 in English and held by 4 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The ranges of possible values of the meteorological factors characteristic of icing conditions of various types are discussed and specific values recommended for consideration in the design of ic-prevention equipment are selected and tabulated. Recommendatons for future research in the field are presented
A review of instruments developed for the measurement of the meteorological factors conductive to aircraft icing by Alun R Jones( Book )

2 editions published in 1949 in English and held by 4 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The status of instruments suitable for the measurement of the meteorological factors conducive to aircraft icing is reviewed. The meteorological factors to be evaluated are listed, and tentative values for the desired and acceptable accuracy of measurement for each factor are suggested
