Financial planning models : concepts and case studies in colleges and universities by Joe B., Ed Wyatt( Book )

2 editions published in 1979 in English and held by 63 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The development and use of financial planning models, with a focus on the Stanford University financial tradeoff (TRADES) methodology, are covered in conference papers, along with the application of the Stanford conceptual framework in five institutional settings. Additional papers consider an experimental modeling language that was developed to implement the Stanford methodology: the EDUCOM Financial Planning Model (EFPM). Titles and authors of the 12 conference papers include the following: "The Case for Planning Models" (William F. Massy, David S.P. Hopkins); "TRADES: A Model for Interactive Financial Planning" (Nathan Dickmeyer, D. Hopkins, W. Massy); "Models as Planning Tools: The Harvard Experiment" (Sally H. Zeckhauser); "Transition to Financial Equilibrium at Oberlin College" (James L. Powell); "Modeling the Budget at Lehigh University" (Eric V. (Ottervik); "Modeling and Planning at the University of Pennsylvania" (Jon C. Strauss, Randall Porter, Robert Zemsky); "Financial Planning at the State University of New York, Albany" (Robert C. Shirley, Wendell G. Lorang); and "EFPM--Generalizing the Stanford TRADES Model" (Daniel A. Updegrove). Appendices include sample EFPM reports for Carnegie Mellon University and Yale University. (SW)

Experimental separation studies for two-dimensional wedges and curved surfaces at Mach numbers of 4.8 to 6.2 by James R Sterrett( Book )

4 editions published in 1962 in English and held by 30 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

An experimental investigation was made of the separation phenomena on a flat plate at Mach numbers from 4.8 to approximately 6.2. Emphasis was given to determining the maximum pressure ratio obtainable on wedges and curved surfaces without separating the turbulent boundary layer. The effective Reynolds number was changed by using different length plates and by placing roughness strips on the plates. This paper also gives some characteristics of the flow after separation has occurred and gives some insight into body forces associated with separation

Systematic two-dimensional cascade tests of NACA 65-series compressor blades at low speeds by James C Emery( Book )

11 editions published between 1951 and 1958 in English and Undetermined and held by 16 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

A two-dimensional low-speed porous-wall cascade tunnel investigation has been conducted to establish the performance of the NACA 65-series compressor blade sections over the useful range of inlet angle, solidity, and section camber. Design points for optimum high-speed operation are presented. The loading limitation is determined for some conditions. Trends of section operating range with increasing section camber are determined for the four inlet angles tested
Extension of boundary-layer-separation criteria to a Mach number of 6.5 by utilizing flat plates with forward-facing steps by James R Sterrett( Book )

2 editions published in 1960 in English and held by 13 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

An experimental investigation has been made of the separation phenomena on a flat plate to which forward-facing steps were attached to force separation. Both laminar and turbulent flows were investigated over a Mach number range of approximately 4 to 6.5. By using pressure distribution, shadowgraph and chemical film techniques, the pressure rise at separation, the laminar plateau pressure and the turbulent peak pressure were determined. Boundary-layer surveys were made on a smooth flat plate and on a flat plate with roughness to force transition. Examinations of the separated flow showed that the predominant variable in the determination of the pressure distribution was the location of transition relative to the generation point and reattachment. Pure laminar, transitional and turbulent types of separation were found in this Mach number range. The peak static-pressure-rise ratios for identical forward-facing steps at a Mach number of 6.25 were approximately 1.5 and 5.0, respectively, for pure laminar and turbulent separation. The effect of Reynolds number on the peak pressure rise for turbulent separation for the low Mach number range was found to be very minor provided the step height was of the order of the bounday-layer thickness. As the Mach number is increased, the peak pressure coefficient C(p, p) for turbulent separation decreased from approximately 0.18 at a Mach number of 4 to about 0.13 at a Mach number of 6.25. The pressure coeeficient at the separation point for laminar separation decreases from approximately 0.014 at a Mach number of 4 to approximately half that value at a Mach number of 6.5. The results obtained with forward-facing steps agree with the trend predicted, based upon lower Mach number studies
Concepts of management information systems : technical report by James C Emery( Book )

4 editions published in 1973 in English and held by 11 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The paper attempts to provide a general framework for dealing with management information systems. A well-designed MIS provides valuable aid to decision makers, particularly at the tactical level but increasingly also at the strategic level. The aid can vary from no significant aid, unselective information retrieval, selective information retrieval, man-machine decision aids, automatic decision making, and a completely integrated decision model. The extent to which the MIS is integrated is an exceedingly important issue. Integration has two aspects: integration of data processing functions and integration of organizational activities. Both forms of integration involve increased coupling among subsystems and greater sharing of common resources. The choice of the degree of integration involves a trade-off between independence and coordination: coordination increases efficiency and reduces penalties of suboptimization, but at the cost of greater complexity, and an increased need for information processing. Both forms tend to be favored by advances in information technology. (Modified author abstract)
