Fortran program for vibration and sound radiation of spherical shell by J. H James( Book )

2 editions published in 1986 in English and held by 4 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Mathematical formulae and a Fortran program listing are given for calculating the response and sound radiation due to prescribed time-harmonic excitation. The program is useful for bench-mark studies. Numerical results illustrate the applicability of the various DAA forms of the exterior fluid loading term. The principal features of the work contained herein are these: (1) A Fortran computer program which can be used for bench-mark studies of purely numerical formulations of the vibration and sound radiation of submerged elastic structures. (2) Numerical results of vibration and sound radiation which augment those obtained from other published studies, and reinforce the view that better fluid loading approximations are required in the intermediate frequency regime where resonances occur
Independence in sonar observations by D. E Weston( Book )

1 edition published in 1987 in English and held by 4 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Correlation after asymmetrical clipping by D. E Weston( Book )

1 edition published in 1987 in English and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

A general formula is derived for the correlation coefficient between clipped waveforms or among detection sequences, for the case where the clipping is asymmetric or the detection probability departs from 50%. The analytic arcsine law for symmetrical clipping is rehearsed and new analytic forms are found for asymmetrical clipping with high positive correlation, numerically low correlation and high negative correlation. Test of FORTRAN program for sound scattering by layered sphere by N. J White( Book )

1 edition published in 1986 in English and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The Fortran program ONION calculates the target strength of a layered sphere whose elements are represented by the exact linear equations of acoustics, elastodynamics and viscodynamics. Both single and double precision versions are available on a VAX-11/785 computer. Numerical results of sound scattering, by an empty/water-filled steel sphere with/without an outer compliant coating, demonstrate that the program is a useful research tool. Generating ship motion time histories by P Crossland( Book )

1 edition published in 1990 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

PAT-86 is a suite of seakeeping computer programs which may be used for predicting motion spectra of ships in waves. This technical memorandum describes a method of generating time histories from these motion spectra. A computer program which generates time histories has been written and is listed in the Appendix. Comparisons of the motion spectra from PAT-86 are made with the spectra of the generated time histories. These comparison are shown to be satisfactory

On the Numerical Modelling of a Magnetic Source (Abridged) by A. G Theobald( Book )

1 edition published in 1986 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

A scheme is described in which a magnetic source is modelled, from field measurements, by a multipole distribution, the fields of which are determined recursively. Further, the concept of an extended multipole source is introduced in which the multipole density distribution function is defined by a polynomial along a finite length line parallel to the x axis. The first derivative, with respect to the non linear positional parameters, for the above source models is given
SES-200 trials by J. R Wiltshire( Book )

The Imaging of Internal Waves by the SEASAT-A Synthetic Aperture Radar by M. T Bagg( Book )

1 edition published in 1984 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

This paper presents results derived from a study of some 5 million square kilometres of optical survey processed SEASAT-SAR imagery of the Northeast Atlantic. In the study, markings attributed to internal wave activity were collected on maps together with the relevant bathymetry and surface meteorology. Simple analysis techniques have been applied systematically to compare the very large data sets involved. The characteristics of the internal wave features are also discussed. A small portion of the imagery is studied and discussed in greater detail as a case study. Originator-supplied key words include: SAR, imaging, SEASAT-A, internal waves, and Northeast Atlantic Ocean

Experiments on low aspect ratio hydroplanes to measure lift under static and dynamic conditions by B Ward( Book )

1 edition published in 1988 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

In support of SUBSIM the computer program which simulates submarine manoeuvres, there was a need for data on dynamic effects on lift forces for low aspect ratio hydroplanes. A thorough literature search was carried out; previous papers usually described two dimensional experiments at much higher frequencies than those of relevant interest. It was therefore decided to perform some dedicated experiments to obtain the required data. This Technical Memorandum describes experiments in the Circulating Water Channel to measure lift forces on low aspect ratio hydroplanes under static and dynamic conditions. Empirical equations to represent the results are given
