in Multiple languages and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

Typed sheet titled "Extracts from German wireless, 17/7/1917". The first part of the document, headed "17/8/1917, No. 245, The British Front", is a purported German description of the first day's fighting in the Battle of Hill 70, which involved four divisions of the Canadian Corps and five divisions of the German 6th Army, on the outskirts of Lens in France. The second part of the document, which incorrectly describes the first part as "following" rather than preceding it, is identified as having been signed by Major A. W. Stericker, a General Staff officer, "for Lieut-Colonel, G.S., 2nd Canadian Division." Stericker was a British officer who served with Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry in South Africa 1899-1902. The paragraph signed by Stericker states that the German wireless message "shows the high opinion the enemy has of the Canadian Corps."

[The toast burns in Rome] by Alfred Joseph Frueh( Visual )

1 edition published in 1932 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

Cartoon sequence of six frames, satirizing the flamboyant oratory style of Italian dictator, Benito Mussolini. In frame one Mussolini is seated at a breakfast table, practicing public speaking while waiting for his toast. As he pounds his fist on the table and stares at the toaster, it starts to smoke. The next scene shows him standing up at the table, while staring intently at the toaster. In a glorifying gesture, he points simultaneously to himself and a bust of himself dressed as Napoleon Bonaparte. He repeats the gesture in scene three, only this time, the bust is replaced by a portrait painting of himself as Julius Caesar. In both frames, the toaster continues to smoke even more. Frame four shows Mussolini gesturing emphatically towards the toaster from which large billows of blackening smoke eminate, until, in frame five, he stuffs the appliance into his mouth. In the final scene, with the electrical cord dangling out and black smoke rising from his mouth, the dictator, with one arm raised, addresses a crowd of followers from a balcony
