Arithmetic Geometry can be defined as the part of Algebraic Geometry connected with the study of algebraic varieties over arbitrary rings, in particular over nonalgebraically closed fields. It lies at the intersection between classical algebraic geometry and number theory. A C.I.M.E. Summer School devoted to arithmetic geometry was held in Cetraro, Italy in September 2007, and presented some of the most interesting new developments in arithmetic geometry. This book collects the lecture notes which were written up by the speakers. The main topics concern diophantine equations, localglobal principles, diophantine approximation and its relations to Nevanlinna theory, and rationally connected varieties. The book is divided into three parts, corresponding to the courses given by JL ColliotThélène Peter Swinnerton Dyer and Paul Vojta

27 editions published between 1993 and 2006 in 3 languages and held by 547 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
This volume contains three long lecture series by J.L. ColliotThelene, Kazuya Kato and P. Vojta. Their topics are respectively the connection between algebraic Ktheory and the torsion algebraic cycles on an algebraic variety, a new approach to Iwasawa theory for HasseWeil Lfunction, and the applications of arithemetic geometry to Diophantine approximation. They contain many new results at a very advanced level, but also surveys of the state of the art on the subject with complete, detailed profs and a lot of background. Hence they can be useful to readers with very different background and experience. CONTENTS: J.L. ColliotThelene: Cycles algebriques de torsion et Ktheorie algebrique. K. Kato: Lectures on the approach to Iwasawa theory for HasseWeil Lfunctions. P. Vojta: Applications of arithmetic algebraic geometry to diophantine approximations

L'OBSTRUCTION DE MANIN : PASSAGE DES FIBRES A L'ESPACE TOTAL D'UNE FIBRATION, APPLICATIONS by
David Harari(
Book
)
1 edition published in 1993 in French and held by 4 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
LE BUT DE LA THESE EST DE PRESENTER UN NOUVEL ASPECT DE LA METHODE DES FIBRATIONS QUI SERT A ETUDIER LA VALIDITE DU PRINCIPE DE HASSE ET DE L'APPROXIMATION FAIBLE POUR CERTAINES VARIETES DEFINIES SUR UN CORPS DE NOMBRES. LA THESE SE COMPOSE DE DEUX ARTICLES. DANS LE PREMIER (METHODE DES FIBRATIONS ET OBSTRUCTION DE MANIN), ON ETABLIT SOUS CERTAINES CONDITIONS QUE L'OBSTRUCTION DE MANIN AU PRINCIPE DE HASSE OU A L'APPROXIMATION FAIBLE EST LA SEULE POUR L'ESPACE TOTAL D'UNE FIBRATION QUAND LES FIBRES ONT CETTE MEME PROPRIETE. POUR CELA, ON S'INSPIRE NOTAMMENT D'UN ENONCE DEGAGE PAR SKOROBOGATOV. LES RESULTATS GENERAUX OBTENUS S'APPLIQUENT PAR EXEMPLE A CERTAINES HYPERSURFACES CUBIQUES OU ENCORE AUX GROUPES ALGEBRIQUES LINEAIRES. DANS LE DEUXIEME ARTICLE (PRINCIPE DE HASSE ET APPROXIMATION FAIBLE SUR CERTAINES HYPERSURFACES), ON MENE A BIEN DANS UN CAS PARTICULIER DES CALCULS EXPLICITES DE GROUPES DE BRAUER QUI PERMETTENT D'AVOIR UNE PRESENTATION PLUS CONCRETE DES RESULTATS. ON RETROUVE EGALEMENT CERTAINS ENONCES ARITHMETIQUES DANS CE CAS PARTICULIER EN UTILISANT NON PLUS LA METHODE DES FIBRATIONS MAIS LA METHODE DE LA DESCENTE DE COLLIOTTHELENE ET SANSUC

LE BUT DE CETTE THESE EST D'OBTENIR DES RESULTATS DE FINITUDE SUR LE GROUPE DE CHOW DE DIMENSION 0 DE CERTAINS TYPES DE VARIETES. SOIT K UN CORPS PARFAIT ET SOIT X UNE KVARIETE LISSE, MUNIE D'UN MORPHISME P, PROPRE, DOMINANT, SUR UNE KCOURBE LISSE C ; LE MORPHISME P INDUIT PAR IMAGE DIRECTE UN HOMOMORPHISME DU GROUPE DE CHOW DE DIMENSION 0 DE X, DANS CELUI DE C. POUR ETUDIER LE NOYAU DE CET HOMOMORPHISME, NOTE CH(X/C), ON CONSTRUIT UNE APPLICATION CARACTERISTIQUE DE CE NOYAU DANS UN GROUPE DE COHOMOLOGIE DE K. SOUS DES HYPOTHESES GEOMETRIQUES ASSEZ GENERALES, ET DES HYPOTHESES DE FINITUDE SUR LE CORPS K, ON MONTRE QUE L'IMAGE DE L'APPLICATION CARACTERISTIQUE, EST FINIE. LE PROBLEME EST ALORS DE CONTROLER LE NOYAU DE CETTE APPLICATION. POUR DES FIBRATIONS DONT LA FIBRE GENERIQUE EST UNE VARIETE DE SEVERIBRAUER ASSOCIEE A UNE ALGEBRE SIMPLE CENTRALE A, SUR LE CORPS DES FONCTIONS DE LA COURBE C, ON DONNE UNE EXPRESSION PUREMENT ALGEBRIQUE DU NOYAU DE L'APPLICATION CARACTERISTIQUE, EN UTILISANT DES MODELES CONSTRUITS, PAR M. ARTIN, A PARTIR D'ORDRES HEREDITAIRES DE L'ALGEBRE A. EN UTILISANT DES THEOREMES DE MERKURIEV ET SUSLIN ET DE KATO, ON OBTIENT ALORS LE RESULTAT DE FINITUDE SUIVANT, QUI GENERALISE PLUSIEURS RESULTATS ANTERIEURS. POUR UNE FIBRATION X AUDESSUS DE C, DONT LA FIBRE GENERIQUE EST UNE VARIETE DE SEVERIBRAUER D'INDICE SANS FACTEURS CARRES, LE GROUPE CH(X/C) EST FINI, SOIT QUAND LE CORPS K EST UN CORPS DE NOMBRES, SOIT QUAND LE CORPS K EST UN CORPS DE TYPE FINI SUR LE CORPS DES RATIONNELS, LA COURBE C EST LA DROITE PROJECTIVE ET LA VARIETE X POSSEDE UN ZEROCYCLE DE DEGRE 1. EN PARTICULIER, DANS LES SITUATIONS CIDESSUS, LE GROUPE DE CHOW DE DIMENSION 0 DE LA VARIETE X, EST UN GROUPE DE TYPE FINI

CETTE THESE CONSTRUIT ET ETUDIE UNE APPLICATION DE SPECIALISATION POUR LES ZEROCYCLES SUR UNE SURFACE RELATIVE SUR UN TRAIT. NOUS DEMONTRONS LA SURJECTIVITE DE CET HOMOMORPHISME LORSQUE LE TRAIT DE BASE EST HENSELIEN. LORSQU'EN PLUS LA DIMENSION COHOMOLOGIQUE DU CORPS RESIDUEL EST INFERIEURE A UN, ET LA FIBRE GENERIQUE REMPLIT CERTAINES CONDITIONS GEOMETRIQUES, PAR EXEMPLE CELLE D'ETRE RATIONNELLE, ET LA CONDITION ARITHMETIQUE QUE L'INERTIE AGIT TRIVIALEMENT SUR SON GROUPE DE PICARD GEOMETRIQUE, NOUS ETABLISSONS LA BIJECTIVITE DE LA SPECIALISATION. CELA FOURNIT UN MOYEN PRATIQUE POUR CALCULER LE GROUPE DES CLASSES DE ZEROCYCLES SUR UNE TELLE SURFACE
