6 editions published in 2012 in English and held by 209 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"During the 2008 presidential campaign, Obama promised time after time "a net spending cut" to make government smaller in order to cut the deficit. But the huge increase in government spending and debt, and the resulting higher future taxes will make America a poorer country. The Congressional Budget Office estimates that the deficits that President Obama proposes for the years from 2011 through 2020 come to a staggering $126,000 per family of four. That is on top of the $35,000 per family already chalked up under the first two years of Obama's administration. But has all the new government been worth it? Are Americans happier because the government has determined where this money should be spent? The answer is clearly no"--
End the IRS before it ends us : how to restore a low tax, high growth, wealthy America by Grover Glenn Norquist( Book )

4 editions published between 2015 and 2016 in English and held by 173 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"As the recent scandal shows, the IRS is big, bad, and out of control. Grover Norquist analyzes the problems within the agency and presents solutions to rein them in. Norquist has a plan for cutting taxes for working Americans and for the major corporations that are fleeing for foreign shores. As president of Americans for Tax Reform, Grover Norquist is the go-to expert on taxation. Now, Norquist makes the case for a major tax reform, including a possible flat tax. On the current path, America will coast through inertia to ever-growing government and taxation, as entitlements consume more of our national economy. Norquist presents an alternative future where government spending is reformed, and taxes and the IRS radically curtailed. END THE IRS BEFORE IT ENDS US lays out what taxation in America should look like. Norquist offers a solution where America thrives, and Americans keep their hard-earned cash"--
A U-turn on the road to serfdom : prospects for reducing the size of the state by Grover Glenn Norquist( Book )

7 editions published in 2014 in English and held by 57 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Governments throughout the Western world are spending at levels that could not have been imagined by pre-war economists - even by people such as Keynes. High levels of government spending have had a significant effect on economic growth and on economic freedom. In his 2013 Hayek lecture, Grover Norquist, founder and president of Americans for Tax Reform, explains how the tide can be turned. He discusses both the political and economic mechanisms necessary to effect change. In three commentaries on the lecture, economists set the UK and European context and discuss how policy changes on this side of the Atlantic can make our economies more conducive to reform. Such reforms are necessary, argue all the authors, to ensure that we have dynamic economies in which governments serve the needs of their citizens rather than simply tax and spend more. -Back cover

13th( Visual )

1 edition published in 2016 in English and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"The 13th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution abolished slavery. But it also included a provision many people don't know about and that is what this documentary brings to view. "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist." That exception justifies the use of forced labor as long as the laborer is a convict. This documentary makes the case that inclusion of this loophole is only one of the justifications for continuing domination of people of color. The 13th Amendment was ratified in 1865 and director Ava DuVernay supports her thesis through the use of both historical footage and interviews. Film clips of former President Richard Nixon call for 'Law & Order' which has resulted in exploding prison populations. The U.S. only has 5% of the world's population but has 25% of the world's prisoners. This Law & Order policy enabled government to imprison blacks. John Ehrlichman was Assistant to President Nixon for Domestic Affairs: "Did we know we were lying? Of course we did." The documentary makes the case that those drug busts, Jim Crow laws and segregation are all variations of domination of black America. Currently the 'Prison/Industrial Complex' is just a new version of the same old problem. Here DuVernay returns to the 13th Amendment and makes the case that the system cannot be dealt with by making small changes. The system itself has to be rebuilt."--IMDb, viewed 9/1/2017
