The crooks substitute a man who masquerades as the murdered man so that they can get the ranch's water rights. A huge reunion party is staged for the phoney, at which time Hoppy exposes him as a fake and explains that the real heir to the ranch was killed. The sheriff, who works for the crooks, arrests Hoppy and his friends as the killers, and the townspeople form into an angry lynch mob
