Die Familie Selicke : Drama in drei Aufzügen by Arno Holz( Book )

[Papa Hamlet is a 1889 published a three-part narrative edition by Bjarne P. Holmsen, consisting of the novels "The first day of school [Der erste Schultag]", "A Death [Ein Tod]" and "Papa Hamlet". The book is the result of cooperation between the German writers Arno Holz and Johannes Schlaf, who presented a piece of naturalistic prose with the title story. In the story it comes to the penniless, unemployed actor Niels Thien Wiebelsberg who sadly mourns his once biggest role in Hamlet and his megalomania and failure receives a bitingly ironic refraction of Niels recurring quotes from Shakespeare's work]"--Wikipedia

This 1905 biography of the great American poet, written thirteen years after his death, was notable for the speculative introduction of a New Orleans romance between Whitman and a Creole woman an affair that most biographers reject today. Still, Binns's volume remains one of the foundational books of Whitman scholarship a book striving to tell of Whitman the man without placing a definite value on his work
