Helping the volunteer adjust to the hospital setting( Recording )

1 edition published in 1976 in English and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

(Critical) This program depicts the role of the volunteer in the hospital. It explains the complexity of the hospital environment, the impact of hospitalization on the patient and the various roles played by volunteers. While the program purportedly should serve as an introduction for the volunteer, it seems suitable for orienting hospital personnel about volunteer services. Thus, for the volunteer, the program needs some supplementation. Unfortunately, the narration is quite monotonous and rambling at times. Nevertheless, the program is unique and should serve as an introduction to give health career classes, perspective volunteers, hospital administration students and nurses a good perspective of volunteer programs in a hospital setting
Pharaoh's rule : Egypt, the Exodus and the myth of Osiris( Visual )

Anger and the hospital employee( Recording )

2 editions published between 1976 and 1996 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

(Critical) The purpose of this program is to make hospital employees aware of reasons for tension in hospitals. Half of the program is devoted to a theoretical explanation of the psychological basis of tension. The remainder is a discussion of two cases involving a nurse who deals with relatives of a patient who are upset by his condition and the morale problems resulting from a nurse being injured by a patient. The discussion is somewhat effective in presenting the psychological basis of tension. However, instead of being a practical guide to understanding patient anxiety, the program is primarily a highly complex and jargonistic explanation of the concept of anger. A student will not find a great deal of infomration of immediate utility in this program

KaBOOM! : how one man built a movement to save play by Darell Hammond( )

1 edition published in 2011 in English and held by 0 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"KaBOOM! chronicles Darell Hammond's amazing journey from a childhood spent living in a group home in Illinois to becoming the cofounder and CEO of KaBOOM!, an organization with this mission at its core: harnessing the power of community to save play for children. one playground at a time. Like The Blue Sweater and Three Cups of Tea, KaBOOM! demonstrates how one idealist can change the world and how small, civic-minded steps create a ripple effect that can precipitate change in communities and eventually change in the world at large. More than just a memoir, KaBOOM! is a call to action that will inspire readers by challenging them to rethink traditional notions of community and social change. This is the story of a man with a vision: Play is the best natural resource in a creative economy. Kids need more of it; it is not a luxury but a necessity for their lives. Through hard work, commitment, and the conviction that access to a safe play environment is the fundamental right of all children, Hammond built an organization that has raised almost $200 million, directly built 2,000 playgrounds with a million volunteers, and touched the lives of countless children and families"--Provided by publisher
