The latest word from 1540 : people, places, and portrayals of the Coronado Expedition by Shirley Cushing Flint( Book )

8 editions published in 2011 in English and Undetermined and held by 232 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Between 1539 and 1542, some two thousand people under Spanish leadership, mostly Indians from central and western Mexico, made an armed reconnaissance of a place they knew by the name Tierra Nueva, now the American Southwest. They intended to seize control of the people who lived there, in places called CÃƯbola, Marata, Totonteac, Tiguex, Tusayan, and Quivira. The expedition eventually failed and most of those who survived returned to Nueva España disillusioned and heavily in debt. They left in their wake dislocation and destruction, and their disruptive presence set the stage for further friction when the Spaniards next entered the region. This book examines the environmental and cultural impact of the Coronado expedition while also placing it in the context of what was happening in Mexico as Spain expanded west and north of Mexico City. Including multidisciplinary studies by archaeologists, historians, and others, the volume gives a much fuller biographical account of the actual members of the expedition as well as a clearer understanding of how and where this large assemblage moved each day.--amazon.com

In this book, Richard brilliantly describes your life as a house made up of four rooms: Business Room; Family Room; Social Room; and Personal Room. He explains how stress enters each one of these rooms in your life and how you can often prevent the pressure on the inside of your house. You don?t want to just look calm on the outside; you want to stay calm on the inside so the calmness will last. If you want to understand the stress in your life, you must first understand how your emotions affect your behavior, or in other words, you need to know WHY you do what you do and think what you think! This book will help you understand: Why trying to eliminate stress will only make you more stressed; what three things cause you to mismanage your time; why time with yourself is the most important time you will ever spend; and, what things you can do to manage your stress

Every event your life has been handed has an emotional tape attached to it. That emotional tape has two tracks? positive and negative. What you know and feel about that event is determined by which aspect of the tape you choose to play. This book is about learning to overcome the negative that has found its way into your life. It explores how yesterday becomes a prison, rather than reference library. It explains why you choose to replay the negative, rather than find the positive.
