An examination of the effects of slough habitat reclamation in the lower Fraser River, British Columbia : detrital and invertebrate flux, rearing and diets of juvenile salmon by J. S MacDonald( Book )

5 editions published between 1989 and 1990 in English and held by 9 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Most sloughs in the Fraser River estuary have been lost to shoreline development, although such wetlands provide valuable feeding and rearing habitats for selected species of juvenile salmon during their migration from the Fraser River estuary. Tilbury Slough was acquired by the federal government and a series of studies and phased programs designed to manage the slough were begun. This report details the research design and discusses data compiled when comparing the slough to similar areas
Dependence of salmon on Fraser estuarine marsh ecosystems : a simulation analysis by D Valiela( Book )

Environmental research on fish habitat restoration at Tilbury Slough, Fraser River Estuary, British Columbia by R. U Kistritz( Book )

2 editions published between 1989 and 1990 in English and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Data results are reported of measurements and samples taken in 1986 during flood and ebb tidal exchanges in a natural and channelized marsh in Tilbury Slough, Fraser River estuary. Results of tidal hydrology, temperature, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, total organic and inorganic carbon, dissolved and particulate organic carbon, detritus, and epibenthic drift invertebrates are reported. Also reported are fish catch records, their length-weight statistics, and stomach content data
Wetlands are not wastelands : application of wetland evaluation methods to the Cowichan Estuary, British Columbia by Alan Ferguson( Book )

1 edition published in 1989 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

This study demonstrates the application of 3 wetland evaluation methods related to willingness-to-pay, opportunity cost and cumulative assessment, using the Cowichan Estuary on Vancouver Island as a case study. The study described the characteristics and distribution of wetland habitat types within the estuary. The impact of two hypothetical development projects on the physical, biological and socio-economic functions performed by the wetlands and the related wetland products, particularly fish, birds, recreation and water quality are assessed in detail. A habitat rating system is used to ascribe the wetland products to various habitat types and areas within the estuary
