Course notes on the interpretation of infrared and Raman spectra by Dana W Mayo( )

16 editions published between 2003 and 2004 in English and held by 890 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The infrared spectrum is the most unique, characteristic, and widely applicable physical property known. Along with the complementary techniques of Raman spectroscopy, it uniquely identifies a compound and gives information about its structure. With recent advances in modern instrumentation, IR spectra can now be obtained for materials in solid, liquid, solution, or vapor phases over a wide range of temperature and in low picogram quantities. Far infrared spectra of halogenated phenols. the calculation of the barrier height of the hydroxy group from the observed torsional vibrations( Book )

1 edition published in 1967 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

The far infrared spectra of ortho, meta and para fluoro-, chloro- and bromo-phenol have been observed. In several of these phenol molecules, for the first time the hot bands, i.e., higher transition 1 approaches limit of 2, 2 approaches limit of 3, could be resolved and both the V2 and V4 terms of the potential energy expression could be evaluated. The ratio of V4/V2 ranged from +0.026 to -0.017. Also, rotamers were observed in several of the meta halophenols. A set of Mathieu tables of very large s values used in the calculation of barrier height is given. (Author)
Foil A. Miller Image Collection by Foil A Miller( Visual )

and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

This collection consists of black and white and color photographs and slides of Miller's colleagues in the field of infrared spectroscopy from the 1950s through the 1990s. Many of the photographs were taken at various PITTCON and Gordon Research Conferences and notable subjects include Richard C. Lord (MIT), Bryce L. Crawford (University of Minnesota), and R. Norman Jones (National Research Council, Ottawa), as well as Miller himself. The collection also includes several photographs of recipients of the Spectroscopy Society of Pittsburgh award, as well as the presentation of the first Coblentz Society Award in 1964. International colleagues, such as G.B.B.M. Sutherland (England), Reinhart Mecke (Germany), and Dusan Hadzi (Yugoslavia), are well-represented in the slides, which were taken by Miller himself
Vibrational Spectra of Inorganic Substances( Book )

1 edition published in 1971 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

The report is the final summary of a research project that has involved a study of the infrared and Raman spectra of small molecules or ions, primarily inorganic, which present interesting problems with respect to their molecular structure, chemical bonding, or vibrational dynamics. (Author)
The Papers of Robert G. Parr by Robert G Parr( )

in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

This collection includes a complete run of Robert G. Parr's self-published journal CIT-JHU- NCU QUANTA, a nearly complete run of Parr reprints, a set of sound recordings made at the Shelter Island Conference of 1951 and several notebooks and diaries. The papers were in very good order and were processed as found
The vibrational spectra of pyrrole and some of its deuterium derivatives by Foil A Miller( Book )

Far infrared torsional and bending vibrations of toluene and its derivatives and the barrier height to internal rotation( Book )

1 edition published in 1964 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

The far infrared spectra of ortho-, meta-, and para halogenated toluene; and butadiene- and glyoxal-type molecules was investigated. Torsional vibrations were assigned and barriers to internal rotation for methyl groups and C-C single bonds in conjugated systems have been calculated. Low bending frequencies in aromatic and acyclic conjugated molecules were observed and in some cases assigned to specific vibrational motion. Results are given on the shift in frequency resulting from changes from liquid to vapor phase. Band contours in the mid infrared region for aromatic compounds were studied in an attempt to distinguish molecules with free rotation of the methyl group. A performance comparison of Golay detectors to thermocouple is also reported. (Author)

1 edition published in 1958 in Italian and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

Notes on the practice of infrared spectroscopy by Richard C Lord( Book )

1 edition published in 1952 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

Far infrared torsional and bending vibrations of benzaldehydes, pyridine carboxaldehydes, acetophenone, styrene and their halogen derivatives. the calculation of barrier height to internal rotation( Book )

1 edition published in 1965 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

The far infrared spectra of benzaldehyde, pyridine carboxaldehydes, acetophenone, styrene, nitrobenzene, and some of the halogen derivatives have been investigated. Torsional vibrations have been assigned and barriers to internal rotation have been calculated for the C-C single bond. Results are given on the shift in frequency resulting from changes from liquid to vapor phase as well as reporting the differences in the calculated barrier height. Experimental evaluation of the interferometer's performance is reported. The computed program for taking the Fourier transpose of the interferogram is given. The transmission of many available commercial crystals and polyethylenes are also reported. (Author)
