L'arte povera by Didier Semin( Book )

8 editions published in 1992 in French and held by 96 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Giuseppe Penone by Giuseppe Penone( Book )

3 editions published in 2012 in English and Italian and held by 89 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"Giuseppe Penone's work is characterized by the beauty of its form and materials as well as the existential questions it raises. Associated with the Arte Povera movement and focusing as much on the creative process as on the work itself, the artist identifies himself with the river, the breath, and, more abstractly, movement and life. His works have been exhibited around the world, including his famous l'Arbre des voyelles (1999) in the Tuileries Gardens in Paris. In 2013, Penone will be exhibiting as Guest of Honour in the Chateau de Versailles. Combining historical, scientific, and poetic approaches, this handsome volume is structured around seven key themes in Penone's work: breath, eyes, skin, heart, blood, memory, and speech. Giuseppe Penone includes documentation of the artist's sculptures, drawings, photographs, and writings, and provides a fascinating overview of one of today's major international artists."--Publisher's website

"Born in 1944 in Paris, Boltanski is undoubtedly one of the most interesting French artists on the current scene." "A man of many interests, he produces short films, composes real or fictional dossiers about his life, reconstructs an accident in which he dies, which has never happened to him, and files "moments" of his life in biscuit tins. His relationship with photography is fundamental: he collects photographic portraits and, since the mid-eighties, the contents of his works have been pervaded by the awareness of the memory of the tragic events of European history during the Second World War." "This volume presents an exhaustive survey of Boltanski's artistic career from his early years and also records the research that led him to the creation of his most recent installations at Villa delle Rose in Bologna."--BOOK JACKET
