William Knowles was born 9 June 1828 in Barley, Lancashire, England and became a member of the LDS Church 18 July 1840. Elizabeth Croft was born 13 April 1830 in Fulwood, Lancashire and was baptized a member of th LDS Church 13 Feb. 1846. William and Elizabeth were married 10 August 1851 in Preston, Lancashire. In 1854 they immigrated to the United States and began their westward movement to Utah. They Settled in Logan, Utah and reared a family of nine children
