The Chaplin family papers consists primarily of correspondence between members of the Chaplin family, including Jeremiah Chaplin; his wife Marcia S. (O'Brien) Chaplin; and some of their children, A. Judson Chaplin, John O'B. Chaplin, and Anne Hasseltine Chaplin. The letters primarily discuss family matters and Christianity. Anne Hasseltine Chaplin married Benjamin Franklin Bronson and Walter Cochrane Bronson was their son. There is a type of circular letter (travel diary) dated from Nov. 1817 to Apr. 1818 and written by a missionary on a voyage to Burma. The letter is addressed to several women, probably including Mrs. Chaplin. The twenty-one year old writer describes the voyage, the conversion of sailors, his or her feelings about work as a missionary, aspects of Christianity, and a Christian life. Adoniram Judson was in charge of the Burmese mission, and is referred to in the missionary's letter
