A commemorative program celebrating the life, work and artistry of Paul Robeson. Performed and recorded live at Wayne State University's Community Arts Auditorium in Detroit on November 14, 1987, the program consists of musical numbers drawn from Robeson's repertoire sung by chorus and soloist. The music is interspersed with photographic slides showing Robeson at various stages of his life, and with comments and commentary from labor organizers, politicians and others who knew Robeson personally. The film concludes with a "special section" consisting of a 28 minute interview with Detroit's mayor Coleman A. Young, who also knew Robeson, taped on January 29th, 1988
