The theory of the design of experiments by D. R Cox( Book )

18 editions published between 2000 and 2002 in English and held by 451 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This monograph aims to help researchers understand the theory of the design of experiments. It seeks to bring the theory to non-statisticians at a reasonable mathematical level so that they can apply and adapt the designs. There are self-contained chapters, examples and illustrated applications
Statistical theory and modelling : in honour of Sir David Cox, FRS( Book )

13 editions published between 1990 and 1991 in English and held by 343 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Applied asymptotics : case studies in small-sample statistics by A. R Brazzale( Book )

13 editions published in 2007 in English and held by 321 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"In fields such as biology, medical sciences, sociology, and economies, researchers often face the situation where the number of available observations, or the amount of available information, is sufficiently small that approximations based on the normal distribution may be unreliable. Theoretical work over the last quarter-century has yielded new likelihood-based methods that lead to very accurate approximations in finite samples, but this work has had limited impact on statistical practice. This book illustrates by means of realistic examples and case studies how to use the new theory, and investigates how and when it makes a difference to the resulting inference. The treatment is orientated towards practice and is accompanied by code in the R language that enables the methods to be applied in a range of situations of interest to practitioners. The analysis includes some comparisons of higher order likelihood inference with bootstrap and Bayesian methods."--Jacket
Empirical Bayes and likelihood inference by S. E Ahmed( Book )

10 editions published between 2000 and 2001 in English and held by 237 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Chemistry about us by A. H Johnstone( Book )

7 editions published between 1981 and 1982 in English and held by 60 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Empirical Bayes and Likelihood Inference by S. E Ahmed( )

1 edition published in 2001 in English and held by 57 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Bayesian and likelihood approaches to inference have a number of points of close contact, especially from an asymptotic point of view. Both approaches emphasize the construction of interval estimates of unknown parameters. Empirical Bayes methods have historically emphasized instead the construction of point estimates. In this volume researchers present recent work on several aspects of Bayesian, likelihood and empirical Bayes methods, presented at a workshop held in Montreal, Canada. The goal of the workshop was to explore the linkages among the methods, and to suggest new directions for research in the theory of inference
Inference, asymptotics, and applications : selected papers of Ib Michael Skovgaard, with introductions by his colleagues by Ib M Skovgaard( Book )

Applied asymptotics case studies in small-sample statistics by A. R Brazzale( )

1 edition published in 2007 in English and held by 7 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

In fields such as biology, medical sciences, sociology, and economics researchers often face the situation where the number of available observations, or the amount of available information, is sufficiently small that approximations based on the normal distribution may be unreliable. Theoretical work over the last quarter-century has led to new likelihood-based methods that lead to very accurate approximations in finite samples, but this work has had limited impact on statistical practice. This book illustrates by means of realistic examples and case studies how to use the new theory, and investigates how and when it makes a difference to the resulting inference. The treatment is oriented towards practice and comes with code in the R language (available from the web) which enables the methods to be applied in a range of situations of interest to practitioners. The analysis includes some comparisons of higher order likelihood inference with bootstrap or Bayesian methods
