Approximately half the views in this set relate directly to the Spanish-American War. Included are images of the wrecks of the battleship Maine and vessels from the Spanish fleet, views of battle sites, forts, American and Spanish military camps, and other military landmarks. Events depicted include General Lee's army entering Havana and the first "Old Glory" raised over Morro Castle and at Pinar del Rio. Personages included are Captain Sigsbee, commander of the Maine, Major General Fitzhugh Lee, and Major General Leonard Wood. There is a group of cards depicting the Spanish army in Cienfuegos, including one captioned "The last breakfast in Cuba--Spanish soldiers about to leave for Spain--Cienfuegos." The aftermath of the war is represented by an image of grass growing on a neglected sugar plantation and a card captioned "The new home of a Cuban Negro Family--a Spanish Block house."

Collection comprises 27 black-and-white stereoscopic photographs on heavy card stock. The majority are images taken during Russo-Japanese war (1904-1905). The collector for the material is unidentified. Studios creating the stereographs include H.C. White Co. (1 view), Underwood & Underwood (16 views), and Universal View Co. (10 views). All the images have English captions including copyright dates, and some mention specific copyright holders, including E. W. Kelley (Universal View Co.) and Strohmeyer & Wyman (one photograph for Underwood & Underwood). The majority of the Underwood & Underwood views provide additional information on the back of the card, often with translations in French, German, Spanish, Swedish, and Russian. Stereographs of the war concentrate on the Japanese troops, including troop advances and engagements, weapons, military leaders, and injured soldiers. Port Arthur (Lüshun, China) is the primary location, but there are other photographs of military activities in Manchurian towns. Contains only two images of the Russian troops, both showing their advance into Manchuria. Finally, there are a few views of civilian life, including street scenes in Peking (Beijing), Yokohama, and one unspecified Japanese town; camel trains in Peking; and the tomb of a Manchurian emperor photographed in Murkden
