Sargent files (1965-1975, bulk 1969-1974) are for appointments by the Sargent administration to state boards, commissions, special commissions, public administrators, trustees, task forces, medical examiners, and housing authorities. Such bodies are often related to education, health care, housing and redevelopment, industry/commerce, public works, and law enforcement/public safety. Files often contain appointment letters, letters of recommendation and other correspondence, resignation letters, lists of members and resumes. Files occasionally include documents of appointments originating in the Volpe administration (patronage secretary), or continuing into the Dukakis administrations. The bulk of appointment records for Volpe can be located under: Patronage in the John A. Volpe papers at Northeastern University. For further Sargent files see: Office of state service job and license plate request files, 1967-1994 (GO3/2753X)
