Math connects( Book )

2 editions published between 2009 and 2010 in English and held by 50 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Math Connects is a vertically aligned PreK-8 basal math program. Math Connects sets a new standard in educational instruction. In addition to being developed to meet state standards, the comprehensive program was built with two goals in mind: success at each grade level and future student success in Algebra I and beyond. The authors, using the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) Focal Points for each grade level as their guide, developed this new series by "backmapping" from desired math mastery goals in Algebra I, Geometry and beyond to ensure that all students have the knowledge and skills they need to achieve these goals. The balanced approach in Math Connects helps reach all learners and accommodates a variety of teaching styles. Throughout the text, students build conceptual understanding through hands-on and interactive activities. Visual models help students move from the concrete to the pictorial to the abstract as they develop computational and procedural skills. Students have frequent opportunities to apply mathematics to problem solving in real-world applications and a focused emphasis on vocabulary builds mathematical literacy. - Publisher
