"This Hammersmith Christmas concert was the culmination of the 26-date 'Queen invite you to A Night At The Opera UK tour of 1975,' and was the last show of a very eventful and exciting year for Queen. Queen performed 'Bohemian Rhapsody' for the first time during this tour. Spirits were high within the band for this show; 'Bohemian Rhapsody' was enjoying its fourth week at No. 1 and 'A Night At The Opera' was climbing the album charts on its way to No. 1, which it achieved three days after this concert. The show was simulcast live on both BBC Radio 1 and 'The Old Grey Whistle Test' television show on BBC 2; the programme's host Bob Harris introduced the band on stage."
Barcelona by Freddie Mercury( Recording )

72 editions published between 1987 and 2016 in 7 languages and held by 99 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

25 years after the original release of the lead single, Queen singer Freddie Mercury's most self-defining and personal work, his Barcelona' album recorded in collaboration with Spanish operatic soprano Montserrat Caball, is having a special re-release in an entirely newly orchestrated re-working.Barcelona - The Special Edition' is finally the album it should have been. The world will undoubtedly rediscover and fall in love with it all over again. The only downside is that the visionary behind this masterpiece is sadly not around to hear it too.The special anniversary version of the album Barcelona - The Special Edition' is released September 7, coming around what would have been the singer's 66th birthday. The original Barcelona album, named after the Spanish city who would host the Olympics in 1992 and for which Mercury had been asked to write the theme song, was to become the final solo work Mercury would complete. The title was also a tribute to the home city of his beloved recording partner Montserrat Caball with whom Freddie was captivated and had planned to perform the title song with at the opening of the 1992 Olympics opening ceremony. Sadly Mercury passed away eight months before this could happen. But the album gave Mercury a million selling record and posthumously a chart topping single when the song Barcelona was chosen by BBC TV as its title music to its coverage of the Olympics. One of the most audacious, and groundbreaking musical collaborations of the 80's, Barcelona' was for Freddie the embodiment of his long held fantasy of combining rock and opera and realizing his dream of collaborating with the woman of whom he said after first seeing her performing at London's Royal Opera House in 1981, I have now heard the best voice in the world'. Freddie had gone to the Opera House to see Luciano Pavarotti in Verdi's Un ballo in maschera'. Freddie had heard him on record but never seen him live. However, as impressive as Pavarotti clearly was, it was the mezzo soprano who blew Freddie away.He was later to play his manager Jim Beach a record of Montserrat Caball. "I wish to record with her", Freddie told an astonished Jim. "Please arrange it."

Queen II by Queen (Musical group)( Recording )

9 editions published between 1974 and 2011 in English and Undetermined and held by 77 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

March 2011 sees the re-release of Queens first five albums - one of the most exciting and influential back catalogues of all time. Recorded in the maelstrom of the early 1970's London music scene Queen created a groundbreaking and unique soundtrack that remains globally influential today. Theatrical, imaginative, diverse, melodic and unpredictable they had a sound and a look all of their own. Sitting alongside their contemporaries like Led Zep and David Bowie, Queen set the standard for British rock in the 1970's and became one of the most thrilling, glamorous and downright rock n roll bands of all time, directly influencing a contemporary roll call of artists from Foo Fighters & Axl Rose to Lady Gaga and Katy Perry. 'Queen II' is the real beginning of Queen as we know it. It's the first time we hear the multi layered overdubs, the harmonies, the varied musical styles (ballads, folk, blues, thrash metal, pop and rock, it's all there). It also includes their first hit single 'Seven Seas of Rhye', which led to the first of many iconic performances on Top of the Pops. The band recorded 'Queen II' in just over a month in 1973 ahead of its release in 1974. The album cover was shot by legendary photographer Mick Rock and inspired by a Marlene Dietrich portrait. The image was later brought to life in the revolutionary Bohemian Rhapsody video
