Jeff Beck burst onto the music scene in 1966 after joining the Yardbirds. Although his stint with the band lasted only 18 months, Beck played on almost all of the group's hits. Shortly after leaving the Yardbirds Jeff Beck formed the Jeff Beck Group that would include members Rod Stewart as lead singer and Ronnie Wood (The Rolling Stones) as bassist. The band only issued a pair of albums during their short but successful career (securing a spot on stage at the famous Woodstock festival before breaking up): 1968's 'Truth' and 1969's 'Beck-Ola,' which make up the 16 tracks on the 'Best Of Jeff Beck.' The opening track to the best of, "Hi Ho Silver Lining," was the bands most successful single, reaching No 14 on the UK singles chart
