La imagen polimorfa de Alfred de Musset a través de los estereotipos españoles. La creación de una morada española.En este estudio se consideran los antecedentes de la imagen de España en Francia, en primer lugar desde la Edad Media hasta el siglo XVIII, en segundo lugar, ya en el siglo XIX, se examina la gran difusión de la imagen de la España recreada por los románticos franceses. En concreto, se estudia, por un lado, la reconstrucción de la imagen cultural que de España se forjó el grupo generacional al que perteneció Alfred de Musset, y por otro, el proceso literario de determinados mitos españoles en su obra. Se presenta la fortuna de las imágenes y los estereotipos de lo español en las obras del autor, para valorar las funciones políticas, éticas, culturales y literarias. Musset, buen conocedor de la literatura clásica española y de su reelaboración por sus contemporáneos franceses, pone de manifiesto la distancia sociocultural que separa lo mirado de quien mira, y también los mecanismos de adaptación de la alteridad en función de la identidad propia.Hay, por tanto, tres momentos: la España del Siglo de Oro, la España del siglo XIX y la España en Musset; todos ellos recorren el abánico de unas relaciones hispanofrancesas que, en sus diversas tonalidades, explican el imaginario español en la obra del autor
