Approximately 1,000 architectural drawings, circa 1880-1959, with related correspondence, clippings, announcements, specifications, legal documents, and photographs. Major projects represented include Auldbrass Plantation, Yemasee, S.C; the Guggenheim Museum, New York City; Fallingwater (the Edgar J. Kaufmann residence), Bear Run, Pa.; and Wright's own home and studio in Oak Park, Ill. Also, Wright's correspondence relating to exhibits and publication of his work; other professional matters; and correspondence with his son, John Lloyd Wright, 1920s-1950s; manuscript, typescript, and printed versions of articles and addresses by Wright; photographs, programs, invitations, issues of SQUARE-PAPERS, and other materials, circa 1920s-1940s, relating to Taliesin; and miscellaneous invitations, programs, announcements, honors, appreciations, memorials, clippings, and other documents relating to various aspects of Wright's career.

The Lorant collection represents significant aspects of Lorant's careers as filmmaker and pictorial history book author; his better known expertise as a picture magazine editor is less thoroughly documented. The core of the collection comprises photographs he collected of German history from the Bismarck era to the Nuremberg Trials (ca. 1871-1946). A smaller portion of the photo holdings consists of stills from Lorant's silent films and personal photos of himself, friends, and family. An extensive correspondence from his American years is primarily concerned with book projects.

Kaufmann's was founded in 1871 in Birmingham, now Pittsburgh's South Side. They moved to the North Side and then to their present location on Smithfield Street between Fifth and Forbes Avenues. In 1946, they joined the May Company and as of 2003, remain a regional division of May with stores in Pennsylvania, Ohio and New York. The collection is divided into three parts: Kaufmann's Downtown, other Stores and miscellaneous. The records include aadvertising, catalogs, correspondence, histories, ledgers, clippings, pamphlets, postcards and other items. The collection consists of advertisements, booklets, a calendar, floor plans, newspaper clippings, shopping bags and other items. Floor plans for the 9th and 10th floor include the office space for Edgar Kauffman and the in-store hospital.
