4 editions published in 2010 in Spanish and held by 25 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The depth and beauty of the poetic and essay work of Octavio Paz, full of ideas that attracted the attention of thousands of readers in Mexico and the world, made its author a public figure of extraordinary relevance during the second half of his life. This is proved by the vast bibliohemerography around his writings and the considerable amount of his images in magazines and newspapers in many countries. However, although he did not shy away from it, Octavio Paz was not a man eager for fame. He was not intoxicated by vanity. He wanted to be read, yes, but he did not care about being "known". He knew that fame is a kind of confusion and that poetry imposes strict moral responsibilities - that is, to a large extent, the theme of "A difficult learning", one of the poems that make up Águila or sol? For that reason, he did not accept to be photographed easily, and beyond the images that graphic reporters inevitably captured in public events, he used to reject the requests made by photographers - some of them very connoted. Actually, Paz agreed to be portrayed very few times. This book brings together a good part of the photographs that he consented either to the most distinguished Mexican photographers and his inseparable companion, Marie-José, to whom, as Rafael Vargas points out in the introductory text, we owe the "testimony of a large number of encounters and important moments in the life of the poet ". This is the first time that such a large number of photographs of Octavio Paz (more than sixty) have been collected in a book, including some unpublished ones, and several sequences that had never been published jointly before.--translation provided by translate.google.com
