"Since World War II, the British Labour Party has played a central role in dealing with complex international issues. Achieving real power in parliament for the first time, Labour governments have acted responsibly, and are usually in accord with the views of a substantial majority of the British people. Such was not always the case. In British Labour Seeks a Foreign Policy, 1900-1940, Henry R. Winkler synthesizes twenty years' study of the subject to offer the first full-scale treatment of the Labour Party's evolution in foreign affairs." "This volume contains valuable lessons on the responsibilities of political parties as well as the pros and cons of specific policies. It is essential reading for understanding Britain's later stands as its leaders tried lo adjust to Britain's diminished power in the post-World War II world."--Jacket

Education and Business Prospering Together Methods Which Work in the Collaborative Process by Henry R Winkler( Book )

1 edition published in 1982 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Business and higher education must form a true partnership with primary and secondary school professions to meet the critical problems posed by basic skill deficiencies in the nation's work force. Despite existing barriers, suggestions have been made regarding ways in which cooperation can be achieved. It has been argued that cooperative education should be expanded; more local and regional interaction is needed between top executives and educators to explore mutual opportunities and problems; and the most successful partnerships have been broad-based, and interdisciplinary, and have been initiated and administered by universities with collaborative financial support from several industries. Finally, because education and industry have different purposes and values, each must consider what they can realistically do for each other, especially in terms of which kinds of preparation each can do most effectively and efficiently.
