Santiago Sierra : Haus im Schlamm = house in mud by Santiago Sierra( Book )

13 editions published in 2005 in German and English and held by 115 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Ausstellung: kestnergesellschaft, Hannover 10.2.-10.4.2005
Andreas Gursky, Neo Rauch, Jeff Wall by Veit Görner( Book )

5 editions published in 2014 in German and held by 113 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Back to black : black in current painting = Schwarz in der aktuellen Malerei( Book )

2 editions published in 2008 in German and English and held by 97 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"With twenty-one international contemporary artists, Back to Black examines the significance of black in recent painting. Black as a color in its own right only came into acceptance again in the twentieth century amongst artists such as Matisse and, later, Rauschenberg, Rothko, and Stella." "Black has been a challenge to painters of all eras - and not only because of its symbolism. Black is the absence of color. Even perceiving it is difficult, because it is hard to see the contrast between different nuances, and light reflecting off it tends to make it look shiny, even white."--BOOK JACKET

Jonas Burgert : Schutt und Futter by Jonas Burgert( Book )

5 editions published in 2013 in German and held by 89 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Jonas Burgert's oil paintings activate a variety of means that are traditionally available to painting, in order to stage basic forms of expression of the human figure in fantastical scenarios. In this he exploits a rich culturalhistoric and ethnologic repository: his pictorial spaces are populated by archaic forms, grotesque characters and surreal beings. At the core is not the depiction of nameable individuals or faces, for Burgert it is much more about creating universal symbols of existential self-confirmation. With opulence and a great richness in detail, his pictures show the meaningful potential of painting in its capacity to generate spaces, to create atmospheres and to mirror our existence. This catalogue was produced in collaboration with the artist. Colour illustrations document Jonas Burgert's newest works and his output from the past few years. An essay by Dorothée Brill and a discussion with the artist offer possibilities for more in-depth analysis

6 editions published in 2004 in German and held by 85 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Lewis Baltz by Lewis Baltz( Book )

2 editions published in 2012 in German and held by 83 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Lewis Baltz did not only revive the American landscape photography, but also revolutionized the photographic pictorial language of the 1970s. Pictures of industrial landscapes, dreary suburban neighborhoods and wastelands depict radically new motifs, which for the first time were publicly presented in the renown exhibition 'New Topographics' in 1975. This catalogue was made in close collaboration with Lewis Baltz and approaches his work through various angles. The texts highlight how Baltz's photographies relate to the art of the 1970s, how he applies filmic strategies and why he does not call himself a photographer. In doing so, relevant new and underrepresented aspects of this conceptually driven artists are shown. Exhibition held at Kestnergesellschaft, Hannover, Germany from Sept. 14-Nov. 4, 2012, Albertina, Wien, Mar. 1-June 2, 2013
