Timber wars by Judi Bari( Book )

4 editions published in 1994 in English and held by 307 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"I need to write a book about all this. Fighting to save the redwoods, building alliances with the loggers, getting car-bombed and finding out that we're up against not just the timber industry but also the FBI...This collection of articles is very spotty, mainly because I hardly wrote anything before the bombing. I mean, I put out leaflets and stuff, but mostly I was too busy doing the actions to write about them. Then, for a while after the bombing I was too disabled to write. So I have included a few interviews from that time period, to document what was certainly a poignant time for me, and, I think an important point in the movement. Most of the articles in the collection, though were written since the bombing. Now that I can no longer hike through the woods or throw my body in front of bulldozers, I've become a much more prolific writer. Those who can, do. Those who can't, write. Most of these articles were first printed in the Anderson Valley Advertiser, a radical weekly newspaper that fans the flames of discontent in our area, and to which I am a regular contributor" -- from introduction by Judi Bari
The forest for the trees( Visual )

3 editions published between 2005 and 2015 in English and held by 120 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

On May 29, 1990, Earth First! organizer Judi Bari's car was bombed in Oakland, California. Within three hours of the bombing, Bari was accused of transporting the explosives that had nearly killed her. Still in the hospital, she was arrested, and soon labeled a terrorist in the national media. The charges were later dropped. For the next twelve years, Bari and civil rights lawyer Dennis Cunningham would pursue a federal civil rights suit against the FBI and the Oakland Police Department. The Forest for the Trees, directed by Cunningham's daughter, is an intimate, behind-the-scenes look at Bari's fight, an important instance of the false and damaging association of dissent with crime and terrorism. At the heart of the film is Bari, a folk hero with an electrifying onscreen presence, and the legal battle that few believed she could win

Road use restricted( Visual )

"Earth First! activists block a devastating logging road in Idaho to save the largest wilderness area left in the lower 48 States. Musical montages and encounters with Federal agents spice up this 18 minute work which makes the case for non-violent civil disobedience within the environmental movement. Women's suffrage, civil rights, and the need to keep our wild places wild- this piece places all these struggles in the same context while illustrating how direct action can work with legal challenges to prevent permanent environmental destruction. Features the late Earth First! and labor activist Judi Bari and a haunting Federal raid on the makeshift road blockade."--Website
