Lilly Sauter (1913-1972) war eine Persönlichkeit von aussergewöhnlicher Vielseitigkeit. Als Kulturjournalistin, Übersetzerin und Schriftstellerin, als Ausstellungskuratorin für das Französische Kulturinstitut in Innsbruck sowie als Kustodin auf Schloss Ambras hat sie dem Tiroler Kulturleben der 1950er und 1960er Jahre entscheidende Impulse gegeben. Mit diesem Band wird eine Auswahl ihrer vergriffenen schriftstellerischen Arbeiten wieder zugänglich: Neben der Novelle Mondfinsternis, einem ihrer schönsten Prosawerke, finden sich darin viele ihrer Gedichte u. a. zur klassischen französischen Moderne, in denen sie Bildende Kunst in Sprache übersetzt hat. Weitere Gedichte und Erzählungen sowie Aufsätze zur Kunst und Literatur ihrer Zeit sind hier zum Teil erstmals veröffentlicht. Lilly Sauter, geboren 1913 in Wien, Studium der Kunstgeschichte und Archäologie. Aufenthalte in London, Rom, Paris; ab 1943 wohnhaft in Tirol, starb 1972 ebendort. Schriftstellerin, Übersetzerin (u. a. Honoré de Balzac, Sylvia Beach, Peggy Guggenheim), Kulturjournalistin und Kuratorin. Zu ihren bekanntesten Werken zählen der Roman Ruhe auf der Flucht (1951) und der Gedichtband Zum Himmel wächst das Feld (hg. v. Hans Weigel 1973)
