Detroit : the dream is now : the design, art, and resurgence of an American city by Michel Arnaud( )

3 editions published in 2017 in English and held by 359 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

[This book] is a visual essay on the rebuilding and resurgence of the city of Detroit by photographer Michel Arnaud, co-author of Design Brooklyn. In recent years, much of the focus on Detroit has been on the negative stories and images of shuttered, empty buildings-- the emblems of Detroit's financial and physical decline. In contrast, Arnaud aims his lens at the emergent creative enterprises and new developments taking hold in the still-vibrant city. The book explores Detroit's rich industrial and artistic past while giving voice to the dynamic communities that will make up its future. The first section provides a visual tour of the city's architecture and neighborhoods, while the remaining chapters focus on the developing design, art, and food scenes through interviews and portraits of the city's entrepreneurs, artists, and makers. [This book] is the story of an American city in flux, documented in Arnaud's thought-provoking photographs

The n-word by Peter Williams( Book )

1 edition published in 2016 in English and held by 6 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"A timely monograph of recent and compelling work by African American painter Peter Williams, that caustically confronts the recent attacks, killings, and murder of Black people by police across the United States. The book contains an introduction to Williams' work, an in-depth conversation between he and acclaimed playwright, poet, critic and novelist Bill Harris, and an original short story by author Lynn Crawford inspired by Williams' urgent vision."
Paula Regossy by Lynn Crawford( Book )

1 edition published in 2020 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

Paula Regossy is a new detective novel by fiction and arts writer Lynn Crawford. The book began with a painting, "Pussy Galore" by artist Peter Williams, which Crawford first saw on view at the gallery Paul Kotula Projects in Ferndale, Michigan, nearly a decade ago. Because the painting's title referenced a female character from a James Bond film, Crawford was inspired to write a novel with a heroine named Paula Regossy, which is an anagram of Pussy Galore. She did not stop there. Each chapter in this book is Crawford's personal (but faithful) response to artwork by various Detroit-based artists and creative spaces. She conversed with, ruminated on and scrutinized the art and/or the venue before she constructed the narratives. Paula Regossy would not exist without those people, works and places
