Louise Bourgeois by Louise Bourgeois( Book )

2 editions published in 1995 in English and held by 464 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Though known primarily for her sculpture, Louise Bourgeois has displayed a lifelong passion for drawing and considers it to be essential to her oeuvre. This exceptional book is the first to combine over fifty years of the artist's drawings with her own observations. Not merely preparatory studies for her sculptures, Bourgeois's drawings are fully realized, independent works of art that rank as some of her most powerful and emotive creations. In the text accompanying the illustrations, Bourgeois, a highly autobiographical artist, describes and explains the sources for each work - and in the process provides fascinating insights into her life and art

Barbara Chase-Riboud : the Malcolm X steles by Barbara Chase-Riboud( Book )

2 editions published in 2013 in English and held by 187 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Born in Philadelphia and living and working between Paris and Rome, Barbara Chase-Riboud is an internationally celebrated visual artist, novelist and poet. This important publication focuses on her monumental series of sculptures dedicated to the assassinated civil rights leader Malcolm X. Begun in 1969, Chase-Riboud's series is explored in terms of developing artistic practice; her travels to China and North Africa; and her experiences in Europe, particularly during the cultural, political and social upheavals of the 1960s. The volume also includes a fascinating analysis of the Malcom X sculptures in light of critical debates on abstract art's role in memorialising the past. This book presents an illustrated checklist of the 13 sculptures in the series, related drawings and sculptures, and a chronology of Chase-Riboud's life and career.0Exhibition: Philadelphia Museum of Art, USA (14.09. - 08.12.2013) 0

1 edition published in 2006 in Spanish and held by 88 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"Presents 5 case studies of [Venezuelan] factories producing aluminum, textiles, ketchup, cocoa and paper. Each of these factories has been transformed into cooperative partnerships between the worker and the state. Internally, the companies' decision-making structures are characterized by a lack of hierarchy. Teams of managers are elected by the workers, and the work is organized from the bottom-up (rather than the top-down) by management"--Container

[Kipper Kids. University Art Museum, October 18, 1979( Visual )

4 editions published in 1979 in English and held by 4 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Performance piece and interview of Kipper Kids relating to performance on October 18, 1979 at University Art Museum. Kipper Kids are painted in black makeup and wear nose and chin masks, with shower caps and jock straps. Pieces are humorous, playful and bizarre. One performance has one Kipper playing a guitar while both sing in an almost unintelligible "cockney" language. Another piece has Kippers making themselves into "cakes", with whipcream on their shower caps. Another piece shows Kippers exploding a mustard sandwich, much to the delight of the audience. Interview is conducted while Kippers are showering and removing stage makeup from one another, while explaining how the Kipper Kids characters were created. Very unusual and funny performance art
