4 editions published in 2010 in English and held by 94 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

There are numerous publications about Renaissance art in Florence, but books written about this subject during this era are exceptionally rare. Francesco Albertini's "Memorial of many statues and paintings in the famous city of Florence" of 1510 should therefore be treasured. This is the first guidebook of the city and is published only a few years after the inauguration of Michelangelo's David at Piazza della Signoria and Leonardo da Vinci's work on the Battle of Anghiari in Palazzo Vecchio. Albertini's Memorial is also one of the earliest and therefore most interesting sources about sculpture and painting in the city. The book guides the reader through the magnificent Florentine churches, convents and palazzi, which at the time were adorned with masterpieces by Ghiberti, Donatello, Masaccio, Ghirlandaio and many more great artists

Piero di Cosimo : painter of faith and fable by Dennis Geronimus( Book )

10 editions published between 2015 and 2019 in English and held by 83 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

2015 could rightly be called 'The Year of Piero di Cosimo'. Piero's (1462-1522) critical fortunes have been much revived and his admirers' sense of curiosity piqued by two exhibitions, organized by the National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC, and the Galleria degli Uffizi, Florence. Together, the exhibitions marked and celebrated a pair of firsts. The first-ever major retrospectives devoted entirely to Piero?s artistic career and the first joint-exhibition collaboration between the National Gallery of Art and the Uffizi in the distinguished history of the two institutions. It could be said that the study of Piero di Cosimo belongs no less to the history of imagination than to the history of art. As was true for Giorgio Vasari five centuries ago, Piero's highly personal visual language remains a moving target for modern scholars. Yet, as surprising and alluringly strange as his pictorial solutions appear, it may be claimed that we have never known or understood as much about Piero as we do today. Freed from the powerful spell of Vasari's biography-cum-cautionary tale, the Piero that emerges is not solely a conjurer of the uncanny, but a sensitive observer of the natural and manmade worlds, humans and beasts, surfaces and coloristic effects, phenomena material and ephemeral

Leonardo da Vinci : the language of faces by Michael W Kwakkelstein( Book )

6 editions published in 2018 in English and held by 43 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) is undoubtedly the best-known artist of all time. He was famous during his own lifetime for his matchless gift for depicting human characters and emotions. He was one of the first artists to become fascinated by the expressiveness of the human face, be it deformed and ugly or beautiful and idealised. This is seen not only in famous paintings like the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper, but even more so in the dozens of drawings that he made of people's faces. In addition to many of his superb drawings, Leonardo da Vinci - The Language of Faces contains dozens of works by his contemporaries and followers. This dazzling Renaissance art from collections throughout the world has here been brought together in a single book for the first time"--Back cover
Leonardo da Vinci : sprekende gezichten by Leonardo( Book )

3 editions published in 2018 in Dutch and held by 30 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Tentoonstelling: Teylers Museum, Haarlem (05.10.2018 - 06.01.2019)
