Alexandro Jodorowsky's The holy mountain by Alejandro Jodorowsky( Visual )

2 editions published in 2007 in English and held by 210 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The plot follows a Christ-like character--the Thief--found lying in a dusty street, covered with flies and his own urine until being rescued/resurrected by a partial-limbed dwarf and a gang of naked boys. He then wanders through the city observing the madness of modern life, including a massacre of protesters by riot soldiers photographed by rich tourists and a tribute to the Spanish conquest of Mexico re-enacted by costumed lizards on a scale model of Aztec pyramids. The Thief joins a group of emblematic figures based on the Tarot assembled by the Alchemist to attack the mountaintop fortress of society's rulers, the Immortals. An almost purely visual bit of pop-philosophical fluff, it has been interpreted as a satire on the pretentious artistic community, the dehumanized industrial work force, the lazy bourgeois, the rigid police state, and organized religion--overlaid with the stealthy paternalism common in the '70s counterculture

1822 : el año que fuimos imperio( Visual )

2 editions published in 2004 in Spanish and held by 7 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Set during Agustín de Iturbide's brief period of rule over Mexico in the early 1820s, this filmed play presents the founding fathers of Mexico, and mocks their glorification as national heroes. Almost all of Mexico's early politicians are portrayed, including Iturbide--the first Emperor of Mexico--Generals Guadalupe Victoria and Antonio López de Santa Anna and others. These figures are balanced by Fray Servando Teresa de Mier, who spoke bluntly of abuses, putting love of country and fellow men above love of self. The play's dialogue especially highlights the hypocritical demagogical speeches of early Mexican congressmen, particularly in contrast with Padre Mier's disarming honesty
