English-language version of the film La mort du cygne, released in the United States in 1938. Backstage drama set at the Paris Opéra. A twelve-year ballet student, taking sides in a rivalry between two ballerinas, ruins her enemy's career, only to find remorse and an unexpected resolution. The film includes many scenes of ballet classes, rehearsals, and performances by both adult and child dancers. Yvette Chauviré and Mia Slavenska, playing the rival ballerinas, appear in solos. Slavenska also dances a dream sequence in bare feet
