The continental-scale greenhouse gas balance of Europe by
A. J Dolman(
)
22 editions published between 2008 and 2011 in English and Italian and held by 587 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
"This book assesses the current greenhouse gas (GHG) monitoring capabilities of Europe, identifies and quantifies the uncertainties involved, and outlines the direction to a continental scale GHG monitoring network. The chapters provide a synthesis, based on current research results, of the European greenhouse gases budget, including both human-induced and biospheric sources and sinks and addresses both the methodology of the carbon cycle science and the science itself."--Jacket

Biogeochemical cycles and climate by
A. J Dolman(
)
10 editions published between 2019 and 2021 in English and Undetermined and held by 346 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Changing concentrations of greenhouse gasses are key to our changing climate. Biogeochemical Cycles and Climate examines the interaction of the main biogeochemical cycles of the earth with the physics of climate from the perspective of the earth as an integrated system. Biogeochemical cycles play a fundamental role in the Earth's system - they describe the movement of matter and transfer of energy around the planet. This text aims to answer some fundamental questions. How have the cycles of key nutrients, such as carbon, nitrogen, phosphorous, and water changed, both in the geological past and more recently through the impact of humans on the Earth System? How do these cycles interact with each other and affect the physical properties of climate? How can we use this knowledge to mitigate some of the impacts of changing biogeochemistry on climate, and the Earth's habitability and resilience? Understanding the complex interactions of biogeochemistry with the Earth's climate is crucial for understanding past and current changes in climate and above all, for the future sustainable management of our planet

Ports as nodal points in a global transport system : proceedings of Pacem in Maribus XVIII, August 1990 by
A. J Dolman(
)
4 editions published between 1992 and 2014 in English and held by 101 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
This volume presents the report of the Pacem in Maribus Conference on Ports as Nodal Points in the Global Transport System held in Rotterdam in August 1990. Ports are one of the principal interfaces between land and sea, and the main entry and exit points in the global transport system which links the world's nations with more than 70 per cent of the Earth's surface. Discussion centred around the following themes: changes in the world economy; developments in technology; ports and the environment; ports as nodal points; the global transport system; developing countries and the cases of ports t
