Principles of quantum computation and information by Giuliano Benenti( )

71 editions published between 2004 and 2008 in English and held by 1,561 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Volume I may be used as a textbook for a one-semester introductory course in quantum information and computation, both for upper-level undergraduate students and for graduate students. It contains a large number of solved exercises, which are an essential complement to the text, as they will help the student to become familiar with the subject. The book may also be useful as general education for readers who want to know the fundamental principles of quantum information and computation and who have the basic background acquired from their undergraduate course in physics, mathematics, or computer science."--Pub. desc

Quantum computers, algorithms and chaos : Varenna on Lake Como, Villa Monastero, 5-15 July 2005 by Giulio Casati( Book )

1 edition published in 2006 in English and held by 4 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

During the last ten years Quantum Information Processing and Communication (QIPC) has established itself as one of the new hot topic fields in physics, with the potential to revolutionize many areas of science and technology. QIPC replaces the laws of classical physics applied to computation and communication with the more fundamental laws of quantum mechanics. This becomes increasingly important due to technological progress going down to smaller and smaller scales where quantum effects start to be dominant. In addition to its fundamental nature, QIPC promises to advance computing power beyon

Principles of quantum computational and information by Giuliano Benenti( Book )

2 editions published between 2008 and 2019 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"Quantum computation and information is a rapidly developing interdisciplinary field. It is not easy to understand its fundamental concepts and central results without facing numerous technical details. This book provides the reader with a useful guide. In particular, the initial chapters offer a simple and self-contained introduction; no previous knowledge of quantum mechanics or classical computation is required. Various important aspects of quantum computation and information are covered in depth, starting from the foundations (the basic concepts of computational complexity, energy, entropy, and information, quantum superposition and entanglement, elementary quantum gates, the main quantum algorithms, quantum teleportation, and quantum cryptography) up to advanced topics (like entanglement measures, quantum discord, quantum noise, quantum channels, quantum error correction, quantum simulators and tensor networks). It can be used as a broad range textbook for a course in quantum information and computation, both for upper-level undergraduate students and for graduate students. It contains a large number of solved exercises, which are an essential complement to the text, as they will help the student to become familiar with the subject. The book may also be useful as general education for readers who want to know the fundamental principles of quantum information and computation and who have the basic background acquired from their undergraduate course in physics, mathematics, or computer science, as well as for researchers interested in some of the latest spin-off of the field, including the use of quantum information in the theories of many-body systems"--
Stability of classical chaotic motion under a system's pertubations by Giuliano Benenti( )

1 edition published in 2003 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

We study in detail the time behaviour of classical fidelity for chaotic systems. We show, in particular, that the asymptotic decay, depending on system dynamical properties, can be either exponential, with a rate determined by the gap in the discretized Perron-Frobenius operator, or algebraic, with the same power as for correlation functions decay. Therefore the decay of fidelity is strictly connected to correlation decay

Quantum Computing and the Onset of Quantum Chaotic Motion( )

1 edition published in 2002 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

We have extended the theory for the statistical average of the fidelity to incorporate system-specific fluctuations. The volume of phase space that contributes to the average vanishes in the classical limit for times less than the Ehrenfest time. It is only after the Ehrenfest time that the average decay is representative for a typical initial condition. We have studied fidelity decay and growth of entanglement in the Jaynes-Cummings model under echo dynamics for coherent initial states. Theoretical predictions based on linear response theory and semiclassical considerations agree with numerical simulations. We have shown that a quantum computer operating with a small number of qubits can simulate the important phenomenon of dynamical localization of classical chaos. We are initiating an investigation on plasmon-assisted transfer of entanglement, motivated by a very recent experimental demonstration
Wigner separability entropy and complexity of quantum dynamics by Giuliano Benenti( )

1 edition published in 2012 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

We propose the Wigner separability entropy as a measure of complexity of a quantum state. This quantity measures the number of terms that effectively contribute to the Schmidt decomposition of the Wigner function with respect to a chosen phase-space decomposition. We prove that the Wigner separability entropy is equal to the operator space entanglement entropy, measuring entanglement in the space of operators, and, for pure states, twice the entropy of entanglement. The quantum to classical correspondence between the Wigner separability entropy and the separability entropy of the classical phase-space Liouville density is illustrated by means of numerical simulations of chaotic maps. In this way, the separability entropy emerges as an extremely broad complexity quantifier in both the classical and quantum realms

Railway switch transport model( )

1 edition published in 2012 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

We propose a simple model of coupled heat and particle transport based on zero-dimensional classical deterministic dynamics, which is reminiscent of a railway switch whose action is a function only of the particle's energy. It is shown that already in the minimal three-terminal model, where the second terminal is considered as a probe with zero net particle and heat currents, one can find extremely asymmetric Onsager matrices as a consequence of time-reversal symmetry breaking of the model. This minimalistic transport model provides a better understanding of thermoelectric heat engines in the presence of time-reversal symmetry breaking

Réflexions sur l'optimisation thermodynamique des générateurs thermoélectriques by Yann Apertet( )

1 edition published in 2013 in French and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide
