The purpose of this bibliography is to provide a starting place for research on peacekeeping's expanding role in world affairs. This selected bibliography has been tailored to include primarily those materials published since 1992, with special emphasis on books, documents, and periodical articles added to the U.S. Army War College Library's collection during 1995. For earlier citations, researchers should consult the first edition (January 1994) which covers publications dated 1980 through 1993 and the second edition (January 1995) which covers 1990 through 1994

The U.S. Army War College Library presents Communicative Arts: A Selected Bibliography, now in its fourteenth revised edition, as an invitation to enjoy the wealth of resources available in the library that will help improve one's ability to communicate. Like the earlier versions, this annual bibliography lists references for materials that will provide skills, techniques, and approaches one may need to effectively express ideas. The bibliography is divided into four categories that reflect the major communication behaviors: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Although one is urged to take advantage of the entire bibliography, note that a few entries under each category have been highlighted so that one can quickly focus on the area of greatest interest. Designed specifically for self-instruction, these materials will help develop communicative skills at one's own pace. All the items included in this bibliography are readily available in the U.S. Army War College Library. In the part quarter century, the relative parity of destructive potential held by the super powers has led to a reliance on indirect forms of warfare and the employment of proxies. Most commonly, these forms are grouped at the low end of the spectrum of conflict. Military professionals recognize that decisions concerning the desirability of their involvement in such conflicts are a political responsibility; they also recognize that they share this responsibility when they recommend action and by the way in which they prepare themselves to respond when called on to do so.
