This text addresses the findings of the World Wide Fund's Root Causes Project, a multiyear study of 10 biospheres in 10 countries with the purposes of understanding and changing the dynamics and factors that drive the loss of biological diversity. Cases studied are Brazil's Cerrado region, Cameroon's bushmeat and wildlife trading environment, China's southwestern forests, the Danube River Basin, India's Chilika Lake, Mexico's Calakmul region, the mangroves of Pakistan, the Philippines' Cebu, Negros, and Palawan, the Rufiji, Ruvu and Wami mangroves in Tanzania, and Vietnam's northern and central highlands
