The second scroll by A. M Klein( )

13 editions published between 1999 and 2016 in English and held by 1,682 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"The Second Scroll is an ambitious and complex work that interlaces prose, poetry, drama, and commentary. The narrative follows a Canadian Jew to the newly established state of Israel on a double mission - to collect the emerging national literature and to search for his Uncle Melech Davidson, a Holocaust survivor. Klein creates a modern Torah out of the uncle's crises of faith as he attempts to come to terms with the atrocities of the Second World War. The five chapters of The Second Scroll mirror the books of the Pentateuch (the 'first scroll'), and the language is rich with biblical, talmudic, kabbalistic, and literary allusions as both the narrator and his uncle wrestle with the meaning of Jewish identity, messianic faith, and homecoming."--Jacket

"This edition of E.J. Pratt's letters is the final volume in the Collected Works series. Because of Pratt's role in the making of Canadian culture between and after the World Wars, his correspondence highlights key moments in our cultural history and provides a view of the enterprise from its very centre."--

The letters by A. M Klein( Book )

1 edition published in 2011 in English and held by 86 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The content of Klein's letters gives new resonance to his works, most notably to his critically acclaimed novel The Second Scroll (1951) and his Governor General Award-winning The Rocking Chair and Other Poems (1948). In his exchanges with publishers and scholars, Klein glosses his own writing and argues for the integrity of his poetic vision. Samplings of his correspondence with Seagram's Distilleries clarify Klein's controversial role as ghost-writer and PR consultant for Sam Bronfman. A valuable resource for understanding Canadian literary modernism, diasporic Judaism, and the culture of Montreal, A.M. Klein: The Letters is a remarkable portrait of an important Canadian literary figure of the twentieth century
Triptych : selected fiction of P.K. Page by P. K Page( )

5 editions published between 2017 and 2018 in English and held by 51 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"A collection of P.K. Page's insightful and provocative fiction--a novel, several short stories and a series of brief linked narratives. Page takes inspiration from experience both lived and imagined. She meditates on the notion of memory and the process of remembering, delving into themes of imagination and identity, of art and the environment, all the while maintaining the language and lyricism epitomized by her poetry. A critical introduction by volume editor Elizabeth Popham is included."--
