21 editions published between 2005 and 2009 in English and Spanish and held by 1,222 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"This lively text provides a candid inquiry into the contemporary means by which architects get work and (for better or worse) become famous." "In response to the reciprocal relationship between publicity and everyday architectural practice, the book examines the mechanisms by which architects seek publicity and manage to establish themselves and their work ahead of their colleagues. Through the essays of specialist contributors, this book enables the reader to understand the complex relationship between what they see as the built environment and the unwritten stories behind how it came about."--BOOK JACKET

Rationalist traces( Book )

7 editions published in 2007 in English and held by 86 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"Modern European architecture has been characterised by a strong undercurrent of rationalist thought. Rationalist Traces aims to examine this legacy by establishing a cross-section of contemporary European architecture, placed in selected national contexts by critics including Akos Moravanszky and Josep Maria Montaner. Subsequent interviews discuss the theoretical contributions of Giorgio Grassi and OM Ungers, and a survey of Max Dudler and De Architekten Cie's work sets out a consistency at one remove from avant-garde spectacle or everyday expediency."--Jacket
Tombazis and Associates, Architects by Alexandros N Tompazēs( Book )

5 editions published in 2002 in English and held by 77 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Alexandros N. Tombazis and Associates Architects proves that the famous adage, less is beautiful, is true. In reference to the style of Mies van der Rohe, less in this instance implies that a conscious and well-judged decision for the appropriate minimum in each design can produce architectural beauty. This is reflected in the projects presented in this book. Features the Archaeological Museum of Delphi, the Archaeological Museum of Vergina in northern Greece, the Church of the Most Holy Trinity at the pilgrimage place of Fatima in Portugal

Architecture competition : project design and the building process by Ignaz Strebel( Book )

1 edition published in 2017 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

Since the end of the 18th century, architectural competitions have been mainstreamed into a public procurement procedure that has spread globally. Guided by architectural principles, underpinned by awarding standards and practiced with pragmatism, competitions are now under pressure. Whilst aspiring to being an ideal and undisputed procedure, in practice, it is frequently highly controversial. For instance, while it is often argued that competitions produce high quality architecture, generate knowledge and function as career triggers for young architects, they are also problematic from an economic perspective and prevent direct communication between the client and the executing architecture office. Above all, there is a conflict between principles of public procurement (i.e. transparency, non-discrimination and equal information) and the competition tradition, which allows for solutions to violate specifications given in the brief. While the rise of architectural competitions has been extensively discussed, the analytical framework offered by this book, in combination with a series of international case studies, examines the story of architectural competitions within the construction process and how they contribute to shaping the built environment
