Alexander McQueen : savage beauty by Andrew Bolton( Book )

12 editions published in 2011 in English and held by 1,130 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"The exhibition, organized by The Costume Institute, will celebrate the late Alexander McQueen's extraordinary contributions to fashion. From his postgraduate collection of 1992 to his final runway presentation which took place after his death in February 2010, Mr. McQueen challenged and expanded the understanding of fashion beyond utility to a conceptual expression of culture, politics, and identity. His iconic designs constitute the work of an artist whose medium of expression was fashion. Approximately one hundred examples will be on view, including signature designs such as the bumster trouser, the kimono jacket, and the Origami frock coat, as well as pieces reflecting the exaggerated silhouettes of the 1860s, 1880s, 1890s, and 1950s that he crafted into contemporary silhouettes transmitting romantic narratives. Technical ingenuity imbued his designs with an innovative sensibility that kept him at fashion's vanguard."--MMA website
Alexander McQueen by Tim Blanks( Visual )

2 editions published between 2000 and 2013 in English and held by 194 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

As one of the brightest stars on the British fashion scene, the late Alexander McQueen pushed the limits of what's possible while sparking a good deal of controversy along the way. During the early years, his provocative shows were confrontational enough to qualify as performance art, but underneath the showmanship McQueen was a master technician with an imagination that catapulted his career from the raw edginess of London to the aristocratic atelier of Hubert de Givenchy in Paris. Filmed in 2003, this program traces McQueen's career as it was rising to ever-greater heights

Haute-à-Porter by Filep Motwary( Book )

4 editions published in 2016 in English and held by 25 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Haute couture often dazzles us with its precision, craftsmanship and the extravaganza inherent in it. Clothing items are made out of proportion; unique materials are used and everything is hand-finished. But, the Prêt-à-porter collections of today comply with the classic principles of Haute Couture. The items shown on the catwalk should theoretically be wearable, but often in reality this is not entirely the case. Haute-à-Porter examines the relationship between Haute Couture and prêt-à-porter collections and shows the evolution in their relationship over the past 25 years. Includes conversations with Angelo Flaccavento, Antonio Mancinelli, Alexander Fury, Colin McDowell, Farida Khelfa, Irene Silvagni, Natasha Fraser-Cavassoni, Nicole Phelps, Pierre Hardy, Robin Schulié, Rick Owens, Stephen Jones, Thom Browne, Tim Blanks, Vivienne Westwood, Yohji Yamamoto, Zandra Rhodes, Viktor & Rolf and many more. Dior by Mats Gustafson( Book )

"While illustration was an essential element in promoting fashion in the first half of the twentieth century, photography has been the medium of choice since the 1970s. So when Dior approached Swedish illustrator Mats Gustafson in 2012 to portray its collections, it was a return to the elegance of fashion s earliest mode of expression. 'Dior by Mats Gustafson' presents this inspired collaboration for the very first time. Infused with a sophisticated charm, Gustafson's vibrant watercolours and collages thoroughly capture Dior s glamorous world, including its haute couture masterpieces, recent contemporary ready-to-wear creations, and celebrated accessories while echoing the same sense of chic that the house has cultivated for seventy years. A must-have for aspiring illustrators, artists, and fashion aficionados alike, this magnificent tome is, above all, an illustrated ode to the enduring allure of Dior." -- publishher's description
