Mexico 1938) and René Magritte's (b. Belgium 1898 - 1967) artwork, throughout a detail study of their biographical and historical contexts. Castañeda's paintings like that of Magritte, moved away from the concept of orthodox Surrealism developed by Andre Breton, their independence and conviction of ideas challenged their possibilities of sales and fame. Magritte challenged Breton's ideas and agreed to close exhibition without sales. Castañeda did not share the fame of his contemporaries' abstract works in large formats, or Neo-Expressionisms or Neo-Mexican proposals. Although they shared an independent quality, the Surrealism of Castañeda refers to a personal dialogue that becomes the voice and poetry of his existential thoughts and expressed in visual metaphors while René Francois Ghislam Magritte, who is considered the most outstanding representative of Belgium Surrealism, paves the way to a facet of Surrealism that deals with the laws of physics, philosophy, logic, reason and fantasy
