The water front by Liz Miller( Visual )

1 edition published in 2007 in English and held by 50 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"What if you lived by the largest body of fresh water in the world but could no longer afford to use it? Residents of Highland Park, Michigan, known as the birthplace of the auto-industry, have received water bills as high as $10,000; they have had their water turned off and are struggling to keep water, a basic human right, from becoming privatized. The Water Front is the story of an American city in crisis, but it is not just about water. The story touches on the very essence of our democratic system and is an unnerving indication of what is in store for residents around the world facing their own water struggles."--Container
Granny power( Visual )

3 editions published in 2014 in English and held by 9 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

GRANNY POWER is a documentary about a very original activist movement - the Raging Grannies. Spanning 10 years, the film follows several passionate, activist grandmothers and their gaggales as they fight for peace, social justice and the environment. The film spans the present and the past of the Raging Grannies movement: from its beginnings 25 years ago in Victoria, B.C., to its present as an international movement. The film is also a window on important issues that concern us all: our role as citizens as we grow older, the challenges of aging, the inevitability of death. Remaining active and finding a voice as elderly women, these grannies are deflating clichés about aging and proving that life can be lived to its fullest, in every way, to the end

Kurt Gerron - Gefangen im Paradies( Visual )

1 edition published in 2004 in German and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

This is a documentary which chronicles Gerron's remarkable and tragic life story, in which his desire to create and his need to work in the limelight led him to both betrayal and his doom. A well-known Jewish actor and director in the 1920's and 30's, he was forced to direct Theresienstadt (1944, aka The Fuhrer Gives a City to the Jews), a remarkable bit of fabrication which portrayed one of the Third Reich's death camps as a safe haven for Jewish refugees. Gerron's reward for his hard work on the film was a one-way trip in a railroad car to a gas chamber. -- Cf. AllMovie database
