The area had been home to Native American and Hispanic peoples for hundreds of years, but in 1905, the area was placed under the stewardship of the newly formed National Forest Service. Both the local residents and the Forest Service were dependent on the Carson National Forest for support, and the video documents various approaches taken to improve the management of timer in the area taking the needs of all parties into consideration.
